Save this - your personal REST reset, in one quiz⚡️💪🏼🏔️✈️☀️

I’m not asking if you like coffee or tea. I’m asking something more important: what kind of rest do you actually need?

This or that:
1️⃣ Silence… or a podcast in the background?
2️⃣ A long walk… or lying flat on the sofa?
3️⃣ Texting a friend… or turning your phone off completely?
4️⃣ Cleaning something… or watching something?
5️⃣ Being alone… or being around people who don’t need anything from you?

Picked mostly the first option?
You recharge through doing - movement, stimulation, a bit of structure. Your nervous system settles when it has something to engage with, not when everything stops.

Mostly the second?
You recharge through stillness - quiet, low input, nothing asked of you. Your nervous system settles when the noise drops away, not when it’s given something new to process.

Neither is wrong. And neither is fixed.

What you need shifts - some days your nervous system wants to move, other days it wants to stop completely. Same person, different week, sometimes a completely different answer.

So don’t treat this list as a personality test.

Treat it as a reminder to check in with yourself, and a menu of options worth having on hand for whichever kind of tired you’re actually feeling.

Drop your number (mostly 1s or mostly 2s) in the comments 👇

This is a bit of self-reflection, not a psychological assessment - it’s not a diagnostic tool and shouldn’t be treated as one.

Follow for practical ways to train focus, without the hustle-culture noise. Your attention has been trained to scatter. It’s not a discipline problem - it’s a skill nobody taught you.

Coping is what the nervous system does under load. It narrows your focus, keeps you moving, and postpones the cost.

It works. That’s the problem - it works well enough that you stop asking what it’s taking.
Being well is different. It’s having capacity left over.

If you stopped performing well tomorrow, would you still say you were fine?

Follow for practical psychology on rest, emotion and nervous system regulation.

I’m not a naturally calm person. High energy, distracted easily, first to cry in the cinema. Nobody who knew me at 25 would have said “regulated”.

People assume you teach nervous system work because you were born with a quiet one. I teach it because I had to build it - the sleep, the movement, the attention. None of it came free.

It’s not a personality trait. It’s a set of skills, and skills can be learned.

Part 2 next week, including the dog who walked me out of a burnout I didn’t know I was in.

Rest isn’t stopping. It’s switching. Collapsing on the sofa with your phone still in your hand isn’t rest - your system is still working, just lying down.

Rest is giving it a different job: slow, sensory, asking nothing of you.
Warmth. Weight. Rhythm. Something to look at that isn’t a screen.

What’s your version? I’m collecting them.

You haven’t got weaker.

Your system has been absorbing stress for years without real recovery - and the bill is arriving.

This is not about getting older.
It’s not a character flaw.
It’s a physiology story - and physiology can change.

You don’t need to push harder.
You need a different approach entirely.

💪🏼SEND this to someone who keeps blaming herself for feeling this way.
