🎙️ Unfiltered: 5-Minute Reflection & Testimony Series | Episode 8

Episode 8 brings us a deeply personal story of love, loss, and hope.

This time, we feature Noor Asziah, as she courageously shares her journey as a mother in recovery. She opens up about the pain of living without the acceptance of her children, the weight of past choices, and the strength it takes to keep moving forward despite carrying that heartbreak every day.

In just 5 minutes, Noor Asziah reminds us that recovery is not only about overcoming addiction—it is also about healing relationships, finding self-forgiveness, and holding on to hope even when reconciliation may take time.

🤍 Listen with compassion.
💭 Reflect without judgment.
🤝 Remember — behind every person in recovery is a story of love, loss, and the courage to keep trying.

Recovery is possible. Healing takes patience. And hope remains, one step, one choice, one day at a time.

📸 Reliving the Moments | Open Mic & Community Booth 2026 ❤️

What an incredible day it has been!

As we look back through these photos, we're reminded that this event was about so much more than a booth or an open mic—it was about people, stories, and connections.

From heartfelt lived experience sharing, meaningful conversations, children leaving with smiles and their plush bears, to every copy of "Rise From The Ashes" purchased in support of our mission, every moment reflected the strength of a community that believes in hope, healing, and second chances.

A huge thank you to everyone who visited our booth, listened with open hearts, encouraged our speakers, and supported our advocacy. Your presence made this event truly special.

Our heartfelt appreciation also goes to all our speakers, volunteers, partners, sponsors, and organisers for making this event a success. Together, we created a safe space where stories were heard, stigma was challenged, and hope was shared.

Here's to many more opportunities to inspire change—one conversation, one story, and one life at a time. ❤️

💚 Voices of Hope | Jumeati's Story

At our Open Mic Event, Jumeati shared a story that touched many hearts—a story of courage, perseverance, and a mother's unconditional love.

As a mother of five children, Jumeati made the courageous decision to turn her life around and become a better version of herself. She reminded us that recovery is not a race. It is about taking one step at a time, celebrating every small victory, and never giving up, even when the journey is difficult.

While rebuilding her life, Jumeati has been balancing work, personal responsibilities, and the challenges of motherhood. Through it all, one person has remained by her side—her loving daughter, Afiqah, who has been her constant shadow, source of strength, and biggest supporter throughout her recovery journey.

Today, Jumeati continues to show what resilience truly looks like. She is proof that even amidst life's many responsibilities, it is possible to choose growth, healing, and hope. Her strength as a mother and determination to provide a better future for her children inspire everyone who hears her story.

Thank you, Jumeati, for your honesty and courage. Your journey reminds us that true strength is not about never falling—it is about getting back up, one day at a time, for yourself and for those you love.

❤️ Every step forward matters. Every act of courage creates a brighter future.

💜 Voices of Hope | Aisha's Story

One of the most moving moments during our Open Mic Event was hearing Aisha's story—a journey of pain, resilience, and unconditional love.

As a single mother, Aisha courageously shared how years of traumatic experiences led her down the path of substance use. At one point, life felt overwhelming, and she struggled to see a way forward. But deep within her was a determination to rewrite her story—not only for herself, but for her daughter.

Through recovery, Aisha found the strength to heal, rebuild her life, and rediscover the woman she was always meant to be. Today, she stands as a loving, devoted mother who chooses hope every single day, proving that our past does not define our future.

Her story is a powerful reminder that healing is possible, even after the deepest wounds. With courage, support, and perseverance, it is possible to break free from the cycle of addiction and create a brighter future for ourselves and the ones we love.

Thank you, Aisha, for sharing your heart so openly. Your journey is an inspiration to many, especially to mothers who may be facing similar struggles. Your strength reminds us that recovery is not just about overcoming addiction—it is about reclaiming life, restoring relationships, and becoming the best version of ourselves.

❤️ Every mother deserves hope. Every family deserves healing. Every recovery story matters.

🌸 Youth Voices of Hope | Afiqah's Story

Another inspiring voice we had the privilege of hearing was Afiqah, a young woman who shared her journey as the daughter of a parent in recovery.

With honesty and courage, Afiqah spoke about the challenges, emotions, and uncertainties she experienced growing up. Yet, through it all, she chose understanding over resentment, hope over despair, and strength over circumstances.

Her sharing reminded us that addiction impacts more than one person—it affects entire families. Behind every recovery journey are children who are learning, healing, and finding their own path forward.

Thank you, Afiqah, for bravely sharing your story and showing that compassion, resilience, and hope can break the cycle. Your voice is a powerful reminder that healing is possible not only for individuals in recovery, but also for the families who walk alongside them.

Together, we continue to build a community where every story is heard, every family is supported, and every child knows they are never alone. ❤️

🌟 Youth Voices of Hope | Kugan's Story

One of the most heartfelt moments during our Open Mic Event was hearing from Kugan, a youth whose life has been shaped by growing up as the son of a parent in recovery.

Kugan courageously shared what it was like growing up amidst the challenges of substance use, the emotions he carried, and how those experiences influenced his journey. More importantly, he reminded us that while children may not choose the circumstances they are born into, they can choose hope, resilience, and a future beyond their past.

His story was a powerful reminder that recovery is not just about the individual—it is about families. Behind every person in recovery are loved ones whose lives are also affected, and whose healing deserves to be seen and supported.

Thank you, Kugan, for your courage, honesty, and willingness to use your voice to inspire others. Your story gave hope to many young people and families who may be walking a similar journey.

Together, we continue to break stigma, strengthen families, and remind our community that recovery is possible—and so is healing. ❤️

🎤✨ A Heartfelt Day of Stories, Hope & Community ✨🤝

Today, Ultimate Friends SG successfully concluded our Open Mic Event & Community Booth, and our hearts are truly full.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, listened with open hearts, and supported our mission. We were deeply moved by the powerful and honest stories shared by Kugan, Afiqah, Jumeati, and Aisha. Each speaker courageously shared their lived experiences of struggle, resilience, recovery, and hope—reminding us that every setback can become the beginning of a new chapter.

These weren't just speeches; they were conversations that sparked understanding, challenged stigma, and inspired many to believe that change is always possible.

We are also grateful for the support shown at our booth. From meaningful conversations to the sale of our book "Rise From The Ashes", every purchase and every contribution helps us continue our advocacy, outreach, and support for individuals and families impacted by substance use and incarceration.

A special shoutout goes to Goodera for generously sponsoring the adorable plush bears. 🧸❤️ Seeing the smiles on the children's faces as they received them was truly one of the highlights of the day. Your kindness brought so much joy and helped make this event even more memorable for the families who visited us.

Finally, our sincere appreciation goes to our event organisers, Centre for Community Wellbeing and WICTS, for providing this meaningful platform and for your dedication in bringing the community together. Thank you for believing in the power of lived experiences, meaningful conversations, and collective action to inspire positive change.

To everyone who came by, donated, purchased our book and artworks from De Sobriety Arts, took home a plush bear, or simply spent time talking with us—thank you for believing in second chances.

Together, we continue to Empower Through Advocacy—one story, one conversation, and one life at a time. ❤️
