Every parent carries patterns passed down from their own upbringing, some worth keeping, some worth setting down.

Our new Breaking the Cycle group gives pregnant and postnatal parents a supportive space to explore these patterns and choose which ones to carry forward.

Across three online sessions, participants build practical Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills for self-awareness, reframing unhelpful beliefs and balanced caregiving, grounded in the Strong Roots Perinatal DBT curriculum.

Thursdays, 5, 12 & 19 November 2026, 1–2.30pm SGT

Fee: 261.60 SGD [240 SGD + GST]

New parenthood brings its share of challenging conversations such as asking a partner for more support, telling a doctor you’re not coping and even setting a boundary with family who overstep.

DEARMAN, a skill from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, offers a gentle framework: Describe the facts, Express how you feel, Assert what you need, Reinforce why it matters, stay Mindful, Appear confident, Negotiate where you can.

It won’t make hard conversations easy, but it can help you ask for what you need without shutting down or escalating.

We’ll be exploring skills like this in our Strong Roots programme, coming this November. Learn more and sign up here: https://www.alliancecounselling.com.sg/event-mec/breaking-the-cycle-perinatal-dbt-skills-group/?occurrence=2026-11-05
