“I thought I was just tired!”

That’s something I hear very often. Sometimes it is eye strain, but sometimes dry eyes are contributing too. The symptoms can overlap quite a bit, especially for people spending long hours on screens.

As we commemorate World Sight Day today, it’s an important reminder that sight is one of our most vital senses.

Around the world, millions of people suffer from blindness and visual impairments due to conditions that can be treated or prevented with early intervention.

With regular eye screenings, conditions like cataract, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration can be picked up early.

Let’s work together to build a brighter future 🌟

Neuro-ophthalmology is a subspecialty that focuses on how the brain and nervous system affect vision.

A neuro-ophthalmologist evaluates complex visual symptoms such as
• unexplained visual loss
• optic nerve disorders
• visual field defects
• double vision
• eye movement abnormalities
• pupil abnormalities

In my line of work, I also work closely with neurologists, neurosurgeons, endocrinologists and radiologists.

I strive to help to uncover the why behind vision problems that cannot be explained by routine eye exams.
