December brings an important reminder about visibility. This week, conversations about disability gained space around the world thanks to the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. But, in many communities, the stigma remains stronger than the dialogue.
At Purple Field Productions, we witness this reality through our films. When a story is shown in a rural village, something simple and powerful happens: understanding replaces fear, curiosity replaces judgment, families and friends begin to see possibilities they had never imagined for their loved ones.
Our films on disability, including LISILOJULIKANA – The Unknown, show what can change when information finally reaches the people who need it. They spark conversations, shift beliefs, and open doors to inclusion where it previously seemed impossible. It's beautiful and touching to see the change.
Awareness shouldn’t be limited to a single date. It should live in every conversation that helps a child feel seen, a parent feel supported and a community feel empowered to learn and transform.
