Dear WAVES 2026 participant.

Welcome to the WAVES 2026 conference being hosted at Maharishi International University. It will begin today Friday July 31 morning. And will end in the afternoon on Sunday August 2, 2026.

The highlighted events of today are keynote addresses by Dr Tony Nader and Mr. Rajiv Malhotra. They will begin at 11:00 am CST (1.00 pm Suriname time) and 11:45 am CST respectively. For those attending in person, these keynotes will be held in Dalby Hall of the Argiro Building on MIU campus in Fairfield, Iowa.

Swami Brahmananda Saraswati (1871–1953), affectionately known as Guru Dev, was an eminent Indian sage who served as the Shankaracharya of Jyotir Math from 1941 until his passing. He restored this cardinal northern monastery to spiritual prominence after the seat had remained vacant for over 150 years.

Early Life and Spiritual Training
• Left home at age nine to seek a spiritual master.
• Became a disciple of Swami Krishnanand Saraswati in Uttarkashi at age 14.
• Spent decades in deep meditation and seclusion, including time in the Narmada region and central Indian forests.
Ascension to Jyotir Math
• Reluctantly accepted the position of Shankaracharya in 1941 at age 70 after 20 years of persuasion by leading Hindu saints and scholars.
• Honored by high-ranking figures, including President Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who lauded him as "Vedanta Incarnate".

Notable Disciples
• Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, founder of the Transcendental Meditation movement.
• Swami Shantanand Saraswati, whom he appointed as his successor at Jyotir Math.

A Raja is an administrator who leads people toward enlightenment by promoting and upholding Vedic knowledge.
