My mother passed when I was twenty, and Aunt Peggy stepped in after that in ways that went far beyond the practical. She held me emotionally during a time when I didn’t fully know how to hold myself.
There are no words that can express how lucky I was to have her at a time in my life where I was just spreading my wings into the world. Her impact on me was tremendous!
Her heart was always open to me She treated me like I was one of her own.
She let me know that in my hardest times I could come to her with no shame or judgement
She accepted me completely as my mother would. Her and my Mother were the best of friends.
We laughed and cried together. And I would always leave feeling 110 % better and encouraged.
Her spirit was playful and I loved being playful with her. Her joy contagious
I especially loved going out to her garden, just to spend a moment with her doing something she loved.
She was more than my aunty, she was my friend.
When I lived in NY we walked many times through Prospect Park, identifying the herbs and trees while she reminisced and shared about her days of being in Jamaica.
In those days she could out walk me any day!
And I still have not reached the rage she was at that time! That says a lot about her stamina.
She was my cooking coach, I could always jump on a call to get her inner secrets that made food taste even better. It would always turn into hours of conversation
She loved my mom, and kept her memory alive with me over and over in our conversations.
I can’t imagine what I would have done without her love and support and understanding.
You are free now Miss Peggy
