Acne often persists into adulthood in women. This review examines the evidence for oral spironolactone as a treatment option and offers practical prescribing recommendations.

The authors found that spironolactone is an effective and well-tolerated treatment for female acne at doses of 50–200 mg daily, with 100 mg daily recommended as an initial target dose for most patients. Additional research is needed to evaluate its effectiveness in adolescent females and for truncal acne. Learn more: https://bit.ly/4uKCI2D
