UPDATE:
I'm in JAPAN now, with deep gratitude and a huge sense of relief.
In times of chaos, the people of Japan seem to handle it with unwavering grace, courtesy and hospitality that brought tears to my eyes a few times since my arrival 3 days ago. People are worried and public events, schools, and many businesses are closed. But I feel safe here now.
I was in THAILAND for a short business trip and got stranded there due to travel restrictions. Although I do have some community in Thailand and some wonderful people who really want me to stay, a number of factors made it a very risky situation that I needed to remove myself from. Immigration requirements combined with the virus situation make everything unpredictable and I'm not is a position to just relax and be a tourist. Intense smoke from burning season and the impending virus lockdown were additional sources of concern. Thank you all for your support and friendship during my time there. You know I will be back someday.
CANADA does not seem like a good option for the moment and I don't really have a solid return-to-Canada plan. It would be a crash landing in an unpredictable time. It might be an option in a few months when the virus situation has settled down a bit. I love you all.
VIETNAM was looking shiny and bright recently. In only a short time there I seem to keep meeting the right people and finding opportunities for meaningful work and collaboration. Beginning with my partnership with AromaSublime.com, and more recently with an ever expanding community of lovely new friends in Saigon, I was really starting to get excited about staying. Travel restrictions prevent me from returning now. I look forward to seeing you again soon.
