Sri Lanka — Day 2 🇱🇰✨ One more amazing day, filled with a deep dive into serenity, inner peace and heartfelt connection.

We believe that a truly safe and nurturing space begins with the presence of the facilitator. Before we can guide others into relaxation and meditation, we first learn how to arrive there ourselves—with openness, pure awareness and love.

At SHANTIKA, we teach much more than how to play instruments. We learn how to listen deeply, feel the space and create sound from the heart.

Sound becomes a gentle pathway—from tension into softness, from the noise of the mind into silence, and from separation into connection.

From this peaceful inner space, we can invite others to slow down, breathe, feel safe and remember the beauty already living within them.

This is the heart of our work: not simply creating beautiful sounds, but becoming a loving presence through which healing, transformation and human potential can unfold. 🤍✨

Sound healing is often presented as a doorway to deep relaxation.
Rest is precious.

But it is not the only place sound can take us.

Every person arrives with a unique inner landscape and chapter of life.

One may long for stillness.
Another may need clarity.
Someone may be seeking inspiration, emotional release, energy or a moment to hear themselves again.

This is why, at SHANTIKA, every sound journey is personalised. We listen to the person, their present state and intention, then shape the journey around what they truly need.🌿

Music has always carried us through many human states. It helps us celebrate, remember, grieve, dream, create and begin again.

Sound healing is no different.

A sound journey is like composing a living symphony.

Low and high tones, rhythm, vibration, silence and intensity are woven together—not as a formula, but as a carefully created landscape.

Science suggests that sound can influence brain activity, heart–brain interaction and the autonomic nervous system. Some musical experiences may support parasympathetic activity associated with rest and recovery; other acoustic patterns may invite alertness or emotional movement (Mojtabavi et al., 2020; von Jakitsch et al., 2024).

Rhythmic sound may encourage neural synchronisation under certain conditions. Research also reminds us that responses depend not on frequency alone, but on duration, acoustics and the listener (Kim & Choi, 2023; Oomen et al., 2026).

There is no proven map in which one frequency always creates one emotion.

The art lies in the composition.

Like fine cuisine, a meaningful sound journey is created through balance, sensitivity and intention.✨

For a business leader, it may open space for clarity and ideas.
For an artist, creative flow.
For a caregiver, restoration.
For a young person, gentle support.
For someone in a difficult chapter, a safe, non-medical space to rest and reconnect.

Sometimes sound leads us towards stillness.
Sometimes towards energy, intuition, awakening or bliss.

The question is not only:
“Will sound healing relax me?”

But perhaps:
“Where do I want sound to take me today?”💫

White noise. Pink noise. Brown noise. Blue noise.🎨🎶

We often see these “colors” connected with sleep, focus, grounding or mental clarity. But does sound really have a color?

In acoustics, yes — but as a metaphor.

The “color” describes how sound energy is distributed across frequencies. White noise spreads energy broadly across the spectrum. Pink noise contains relatively more energy in the lower frequencies, while brown noise is weighted even more strongly toward them. Blue noise moves in the opposite direction, with more energy toward higher frequencies. The names borrow the language of light to help us imagine something we cannot see. (Sejdić & Lipsitz, 2013)

But a spectral profile is one thing.
A specific effect on the mind or body is another.

Research on white and pink noise is growing, but the picture is still nuanced. A 2024 systematic review and meta-analysis found a small improvement in attention-task performance in children and young adults with ADHD or elevated attention problems. Interestingly, the same noises did not improve performance in people without ADHD and could slightly reduce it. (Nigg et al., 2024)

Sleep research is also promising but not conclusive. A systematic review of 34 studies found positive sleep outcomes in some studies using white and pink noise, especially pink noise, while differences in methods and study quality make broad claims difficult. (Riedy et al., 2021)

So perhaps the fascinating part is not that pink means sleep or brown means grounding. Science does not support such a simple map.

What science does show is more interesting: changing the structure of sound can change how we experience it.

At SHANTIKA, this is where curiosity begins, between physics, perception and experience.🤍

Perhaps sound has many “colors.”
Science is still discovering what they mean.

📋Related research are provided in the comments.
