THE SUN IS ACTIVE DURING THE YEAR OF THE FIRE HORSE
On Tuesday, August 25, 2026, a particularly active region of the Sun is drawing the attention of space weather experts.
Designated AR4513 (Active Region 4513), this major, closely monitored sunspot has already produced several significant M-class flares. Its magnetic structure is currently classified as beta-gamma-delta, indicating the presence of particularly complex and unstable fields. It triggered a powerful M8.1-magnitude flare on August 20, coming close to X-class status (the most violent category of flares).
AR4513 is now facing directly toward Earth. It is expected to remain in the zone where its flares are most likely to affect us until around August 30. If an ejection of solar material were to occur toward the end of this period, any resulting effects could still reach us in early September.
We are therefore looking primarily at a window from August 25 to 30, with a possible extension of a few days. This does not mean a solar storm will last throughout this entire period; rather, it is the timeframe during which an Earth-directed flare becomes more probable.
Forecasts made on August 25 estimate the probability of another M-class flare at over 50%, and an X-class flare at around 10%, in the very short term. X-class flares are the most powerful solar flares.
NOAA models confirm that successive flares from AR4513 are causing R1 to R2 level radio blackouts. What is affected: High-frequency (HF) radio communications used in aviation and maritime navigation, as well as the accuracy of civilian GPS signals (which may experience jumps or temporary signal loss). If a major eruption is accompanied by an ejection of solar material directed toward us, it could reach Earth’s environment one to three days later and trigger a geomagnetic storm. We are, therefore, truly in a unique solar moment.
This becomes even more interesting when viewed through the lens of Chinese metaphysics, as we are currently in the *Bing Wu* (丙午) year—the year of the Fire Horse.
*Bing* (丙) represents Yang Fire: a solar, radiant, and expansive fire that reveals itself and spreads. *Wu* (午), the Horse, is also associated with Fire. Thus, we have Fire in the Heavens and Fire in the year’s Earthly Branch.
A year of double Fire.
Particularly intense solar activity during such a year defies certain prediction. Nevertheless, it represents a metaphysical correspondence strong enough to warrant our attention.
Fire illuminates. It brings to light what was previously hidden in shadow, accelerates processes, and fosters expression, movement, and decision-making.
When it becomes excessive, however, these same qualities take on a different aspect. Clarity turns into blinding glare. Enthusiasm shifts to agitation. Decisiveness becomes impulsiveness. We react before we fully understand, sometimes wanting to burn away the very things that resisted us just the day before.
We can already anticipate the predictions that will inevitably flood social media in the coming days. They will likely herald a collective rise in Earth’s frequencies, DNA activation, and a long list of alleged symptoms: fatigue, insomnia, migraines, heart palpitations, tinnitus, irritability, strange dreams, difficulty concentrating, and the sudden opening of the third eye.
The issue is not acknowledging that solar disturbances might subtly influence living beings. This hypothesis is entirely consistent with the Chinese view of the human being as an integral part of the transformations of Heaven and Earth. The problem lies in imagining that this influence would mechanically produce the same effect on everyone.
The subtle realm does not operate like central heating. We do not all receive the same amount of Fire within an identical energetic "apartment."
A collective influence always encounters an individual energetic texture. It passes through our constitution, our strengths and weaknesses, our current state, and the temporal cycles we are traversing. A celestial phenomenon may be general in nature, but its translation into a specific life is never entirely so.
A heatwave affects an entire region, yet it does not produce the same effect on a freshly watered field, a parched forest, a vineyard awaiting the sun, or a dehydrated person. For some systems, this extra heat fosters maturation; for others, it represents the tipping point—the degree too many.
Ba Zi allows us to examine precisely this terrain.
A person with a cold, damp, or sluggish chart may benefit from an increase in Fire. They might regain a sense of momentum,...an ability to make decisions or a desire to finally step into the spotlight.
For someone whose chart is already "hot and dry," or who lacks the resources to regulate Fire, this same climate could heighten agitation, sleep difficulties, impatience, and overreactions. An energy that is beneficial for one person might prove exhausting for another.
A truly personalized forecast would therefore require examining one's natal structure, useful elements, ten-year cycle, and the current year, as well as interactions with the specific month and day of the event. If a solar flare actually reaches Earth, a Qimen chart cast for the time of its arrival at a specific location could complement this reading. The I Ching could then shed light on the best way to respond to the situation at hand.
That is the level of analysis required to begin a serious discussion about personal effects.
It would be far simpler to publish a claim that all Water Day Masters, all Snake signs, or all poor sleepers are currently experiencing a wave of "ascension." But that would do a disservice to Chinese metaphysical thought, which is far more subtle.
We do not all have a personalized metaphysical analysis for every movement of the Sun. So, what useful advice can we offer without resorting to sweeping, universal predictions?
We can start by observing before we interpret.
The best approach is to take note of our general state right now, before the lists of symptoms start circulating. How are we sleeping? What is our energy level? Are we more reactive than usual? Is a particular decision weighing on our minds? Is a previously bearable situation suddenly becoming intolerable?
If a geomagnetic storm occurs, we can take stock again twenty-four and then forty-eight hours later. We might notice a change. Or we might feel absolutely nothing at all. There is no need to engage with every single cosmic event.
Then, we must look at the direction the Fire takes. Sometimes, it brings clarity. A confusing situation becomes easier to read, a decision takes shape, or a desire regains its strength. In such moments, let us use this energy to take a concrete step. Just one is enough. It is better to give lasting form to that impulse than to scatter ourselves in six directions at once.
Fire can also cause dispersion. Ideas multiply, a sense of urgency mounts, we speak too quickly, and every emotion seems to demand an immediate decision. It is better, then, to slow down and wait before taking a step that would be hard to reverse. An insight that vanishes after a good night’s sleep may have been nothing more than a momentary flare-up.
Finally, Fire can burn. We become irritable, tense, and exhausted by our own agitation. In this case, there is no point in adding powerful practices, intensive breathing exercises, or three hours of meditation aimed at absorbing even more solar energy.
Warm regards.
We need to come back down to earth.
We can plant our feet on the ground, place our hands on our lower abdomen, and let the breath descend naturally. The exhale should be slightly longer than the inhale, without forcing it. A slow walk—without a phone—will then allow us to get the body moving again without fueling mental excitement.
This practice does not seek to banish the Fire; it gives it a container.
This is arguably the wisest general advice one can offer during a period of intensification: do not decide in advance how we ought to feel; instead, observe how the energy moves through us, and then regulate our response.
In doing so, we avoid two extremes. On one hand, believing that the flare-up will inevitably impose the same symptoms and the same transformation on all of humanity. On the other, claiming that no general recommendation is possible without a comprehensive metaphysical consultation.
Between the two lies a mature approach: acknowledging the collective climate, respecting the uniqueness of our own constitution, and adjusting our actions based on what we actually observe.
The Fire Horse can set us in motion. A solar storm can intensify what is moving through us. It will not tell us what to do with it.
Intensification is not yet transformation. It can make tension more visible, accelerate a realization, or provide the momentum we were lacking. But what emerges must then be understood, integrated, and translated into the way we live.
No celestial phenomenon absolves us of that part of the process.
The Sun will not do the Work for us.

Best regards,

My dear friends and patients,
We have arrived at this interseasonal period.

The energy is shifting.
What was here is gently fading, and what is coming is not yet fully established. It is a special time, a liminal space, where heaven and Earth are realigning.
Right now, a new quality of energy is flowing through the cosmos and beginning to settle on our planet. It doesn't arrive with a bang. It arrives with movement, with breath, with that slight shift that some are already feeling in their bodies and minds.

It is a transition. Neither quite the end of what came before, nor yet the full unfolding of what is to come.
So we observe. We remain flexible. And we allow this new energy to find its place.
If you feel the need, it is an excellent time to have an acupuncture session before August 15th, to gently support this change.

The importance
of the 5th season
27.April to 15.May 2026

It occurs at the end of each season
during a period straddling the one
that ends and the one that begins.
This period lasts 18 days
At each transitory seasonal passage,
the Earth receives the energy of
the season that ends, and adapts it
by transmitting it to the element of
the following season.
Is good time for see your
Acupuncturist for session.
