What Is the Most Appropriate Age for Circumcision?
When determining the timing of circumcision, both the child’s physical health and psychological development should be taken into consideration.
Our physicians recommend that circumcision be performed, whenever possible, either before the age of 2 or after the age of 7. Since body awareness and psychological development are more sensitive between the ages of 2 and 7, circumcision is generally not preferred during this period unless there is a medical necessity.
The most commonly recommended period for circumcision is between **2 and 6 months of age**. When performed during this period, the child may be less psychologically affected by the procedure. The recovery process may also be more comfortable.
However, every child’s health condition is different. Therefore, the timing of circumcision should be planned individually following a medical examination.
