Post-Traumatic Facial Palsy

Severe post-traumatic facial palsy was treated with hypoglossal nerve coaptation and sural nerve grafting.

The postoperative result shows significant improvement in facial symmetry and movement, with an excellent cosmetic outcome.

Bilateral Internal Jugular Vein Decompression

A complex case of bilateral internal jugular vein compression in a patient who had previously undergone jugular vein stenting.

Despite the previous stent, significant mechanical compression caused by the surrounding bony structures remained.

We performed a comprehensive surgical decompression including:

• Bilateral styloidectomy
• Bilateral C1 transverse process shaving
• Decompression of both internal jugular veins

The surgical approach focused on addressing the underlying anatomical cause of venous compression, rather than treating the vein alone.

This case demonstrates the importance of carefully evaluating the relationship between the styloid processes, C1 transverse processes, and internal jugular veins when planning treatment.

From Norway to Türkiye… in search of a solution.

When a patient has lived with symptoms for years and undergone previous treatments without finding the answers they were looking for, sometimes the journey leads thousands of kilometers away.

Our patient traveled from Norway to Türkiye seeking specialized treatment for Eagle Syndrome.

Our patient had previously undergone surgery for Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (TOS) at another center, but unfortunately, her symptoms did not improve.

After extensive research, she came to us and underwent surgery on the first side using the PURED surgical technique, a technique I specifically developed for TOS surgery.
After experiencing significant improvement and regression of her symptoms following the first operation, the surgery on the second side was also successfully performed to address her remaining symptoms.
The patient is currently progressing well through her recovery, and her follow-up continues closely.
The right surgical technique can be a decisive factor in restoring quality of life, even in recurrent cases and bilateral TOS.
I thank my patient for her trust and patience, and I wish her a healthy recovery.

Sometimes, a patient’s greatest recommendation is their own family.

Today, we welcomed a patient from France diagnosed with Internal Jugular Vein (IJV) compression.

But this case is different.
One and a half years ago, we treated his brother for the same condition.
After surgery, his brother recovered successfully and returned to his normal life.

Now, after seeing his brother’s successful treatment and recovery, he came to us for the same problem.

Some of the most meaningful moments in neurosurgery happen long after the operation, when a patient returns to living the life they had been missing.
- This gentleman traveled to our clinic from Denmark after years of debilitating neurological symptoms and an extensive search for answers. Multiple evaluations had failed to identify the underlying cause until a detailed review of the imaging revealed severe bilateral internal jugular vein compression.
- Following comprehensive evaluation, we performed bilateral internal jugular vein decompression, successfully restoring venous outflow. The surgical result was confirmed both during the operation and on postoperative CT angiography.
- Today, the patient has experienced complete remission of the preoperative symptoms and has returned to an active, healthy life.
Stories like this remind us that the correct diagnosis is often the most important step in treatment. Complex cranio-cervical vascular compression syndromes require meticulous evaluation, a thorough understanding of the anatomy, and individualized surgical planning.

A month ago, a family traveled from Azerbaijan to Istanbul seeking hope after their mother was diagnosed with a large brain tumor.

After reviewing her MRI, I suspected a meningioma, but the definitive diagnosis could only be confirmed after surgery. We performed a six-hour microsurgical brain tumor resection and successfully removed the tumor completely without neurological complications.

The pathology report later confirmed the best possible news:
Benign meningioma.

The greatest reward wasn't the pathology result—it was seeing our patient smile again, regain her normal life, and embrace her family.

Every successful surgery is built on meticulous planning, teamwork, advanced microsurgical techniques, and the trust our patients place in us.
