WADA investigates unusual doping claims in ski jumping ⛷️❄️
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has announced it is monitoring claims that some male ski jumpers may be using hyaluronic acid injections in an attempt to gain an aerodynamic advantage.
Ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympics, WADA Director General Olivier Niggli stated that the agency would assess whether such practices could fall under doping regulations.
“I am not aware of the details of ski jumping and how this could improve performance, but if any evidence emerges, we will look into it,” he said.
The discussion follows a report by German newspaper Bild, which suggested that increasing body volume could enlarge the surface area of ski suits, potentially helping athletes remain airborne longer.
⚠️ Hyaluronic acid filler is a medical procedure — not a performance tool.
⚠️ It must be performed only for appropriate medical or aesthetic indications, by qualified physicians.
