✨ My lovely patient’s revision rhinoplasty journey — first-week result!

She had undergone one previous rhinoplasty and came to us with a long, over-projected nasal tip.

For her revision surgery, we focused on:
• Tip deprojection to achieve more balanced facial proportions
• Precise reshaping using Piezo ultrasonic technology
• Creating a refined, feminine Barbie-doll nose while maintaining harmony with her facial features

And this is only the first week! 💫
The cast has just been removed, so significant swelling and edema are still present.

Even at this very early stage, the transformation is beautiful. The nose will continue to refine and settle over the coming months.

Knowledge becomes more valuable when it is shared.

Over the course of two days, I had the pleasure of serving as an instructor at the Cadaver Dissection Course held at Ankara Technokent Torlak Dissection Center.

We had the opportunity to share our surgical experience with colleagues in facial aesthetic surgery, temporal lifting, deep plane facelift, and neck lift techniques, while exploring surgical anatomy and advanced approaches through hands-on cadaver dissection.

I strongly believe that sharing knowledge and surgical experience is one of the most valuable ways for us to learn, improve, and advance together.

My sincere thanks to Prof. Dr. Selim Erbek , PlasTuna_Sağlık usead for organizing this valuable course and for their kind invitation.

A microburr in rhinoplasty is a very small, high-speed rotating surgical drill/burr used to precisely reshape the nasal bones.

Compared with traditional rasps or larger powered instruments, a microburr allows the surgeon to remove or smooth very small amounts of bone with controlled movements. It can be useful for:

* Smoothing small bony irregularities after hump reduction or osteotomy
* Refining the nasal dorsum and lateral bony walls
* Correcting small asymmetries or residual bony prominences
* Fine contouring where only a few millimeters—or less—of bone need adjustment

Microburr vs. Piezo

They aren’t exactly the same thing.

Piezo ultrasonic rhinoplasty uses ultrasonic vibrations to cut or reshape mineralized bone while minimizing trauma to surrounding soft tissues.

A microburr mechanically rotates and grinds/shaves the bone. It can be extremely precise, but because it is a rotating instrument, the surgeon must carefully control its depth and contact with surrounding tissues.



In some rhinoplasties, both can be used: Piezo for controlled osteotomies and larger bony reshaping, and a microburr for very fine finishing and contour refinement.
