The cause of aging can be categorized into two types occurring due to intrinsic and extrinsic factors Intrinsic aging is a genetic process that occurs naturally. Extrinsic aging is a result of outside factors such as lifestyle habits like smoking, stress levels, where you live. To better understand the aging process, cellular and molecular hallmarks of aging like (genomic instability, telomere attrition, epigenetic alterations, loss of proteostasis, deregulated nutrient sensing, mitochondrial dysfunction, cellular senescence, stem cell exhaustion, and altered intercellular communication) were identified and categorized by scientists.
