Widow Support TT

Widow Support TT Founded in 2011 by Soraya Nanan β€” Widow, Attorney, Motivational Speaker & Single Mother. Widow Support TT, through the experiences of its founder Ms.

Widow Support TT empowers widows across T&T to heal, rebuild & rise through support, advocacy & sisterhoodπŸ’œ Widow Support TT (formerly the Lincoln Nanan Foundation) is a community for widows founded by Soraya Nanan-widow, lawyer, single mother, friend & speaker. It is a sisterhood of widows who are supportive, non-judgemental, understanding, caring, thoughtful & compassionate. We

provide a safe haven where persons in grief can speak openly about their grief. Soraya Nanan, has recognised the need to have proper support systems in place on the loss of a husband. It is for this reason that the Widow Support TT’s primary goal is to offer support, advice and enrichment to the lives of widows. Despite our focus we recognise the importance of raising awareness on leukaemia in tandem with our support work. In the long term, we hope to advocate for greater focus on bone marrow transplants in Trinidad and Tobago. In a glance, Widow Support TT aims to:

1. Offer complete support – emotional, mental, and financial to widows in an attempt to enrich their lives.

2. Offer grief counselling to children who have lost a parent .

3. Establish a Widow’s Fund to assist women, financially, emotionally and otherwise, who need support after experiencing the death of their husband.

4. Network with relevant local and international organisations and professionals to ensure that widows have the support they need.

5. Source funds from donations and grants. In the long term, Widow Support TT aims to:

1. Set up a bone marrow transplant donor list for persons who are diagnosed with leukaemia and need to get a donor for a bone marrow transplant.

2. Educate persons on leukaemia and its treatment.

3. Financially assist persons of any age group who need life saving treatment, surgery or otherwise.

β€œLet us lend support for others going through this journey, which is very real and raw to us. No man is an island.” – Ms. Soraya Nanan

Grief is the price we pay for love.

The depth of our grief often reflects the depth of the love we shared. While loss can leave an ache in our hearts, it is also a testament to the meaningful connections, cherished memories, and enduring bonds that continue long after a loved one is gone.

If grief is what we get for loving deeply, then perhaps it is also proof that we loved well.

Today, we honour both the pain of loss and the beauty of love that remains.

πŸ’œ You are not alone. We are here for you.

Grief has a way of changing more than our circumstancesβ€”it changes us.

Sometimes we don't just miss the person we lost. We miss the version of ourselves that existed when they were still here. The person who laughed more easily, felt more secure, made plans without fear, and never imagined a life without them.

If these feelings resonate with you, please know that you are not alone. Many grieving hearts carry this quiet loss alongside the loss of their loved one.

Be gentle with yourself. Healing takes time.

Today, another family in Trinidad and Tobago has been plunged into unimaginable grief following the loss of a child Mercedes Cabrera-Layne.

As a nation, we mourn not only the life that was taken, but the dreams, hopes and future that have been stolen from a family.

We extend our deepest condolences to all who are grieving and pray for comfort, strength and healing in the difficult days ahead.

No parent should have to bury a child. No family should have to endure such heartbreak.

May we all be reminded to hold our loved ones a little closer and continue working toward communities where our children can grow in safety and peace. πŸ’œ

πŸŒŽπŸ’š World Environment Day 2026 πŸ’šπŸŒŽ

Today, we are reminded that protecting our environment is a shared responsibility. Every tree planted, every piece of litter removed, and every sustainable choice we make contributes to a healthier planet for future generations.

At Widow Support Trinidad & Tobago (WSTT), we recognize that caring for our environment is also a way of caring for our communities. The spaces where we live, work, heal, and gather deserve our respect and protection.

Let us all do our partβ€”no matter how smallβ€”to preserve the beauty of our islands and create a cleaner, greener future.

🌱 Reduce. Reuse. Restore.

πŸ™πŸ½ Blessed Corpus Christi from Widow Support Trinidad & Tobago (WSTT) πŸ’œ

Today, many Christians celebrate the Feast of Corpus Christi, while many families throughout Trinidad and Tobago continue the cherished tradition of planting on this special day.

Whether you are attending Mass, planting seeds, spending time with loved ones, or simply taking a moment for reflection, may this day bring peace, hope, and blessings to your life.

As seeds planted today are nurtured and grow, may we also continue to nurture faith, healing, kindness, and resilience in our hearts and communities.

Wishing everyone a safe, peaceful, and blessed Corpus Christi.

🌿 Grief on a Tuesday 🌿

We often expect grief to look like tears.

But sometimes grief looks like staring into space and forgetting what you were about to do.

Sometimes it looks like making it through the day, smiling when needed, and then feeling the weight of your loss when the world goes quiet at night.

Sometimes it looks like getting up, going to work, caring for your family, and simply surviving another Tuesday.

Grief doesn't always announce itself. It can be silent, unexpected, and woven into the ordinary moments of everyday life.

If today feels heavy, know that you are not alone. Be gentle with yourself. Healing is not about "getting over" your lossβ€”it's about learning to carry it with grace, one day at a time.

πŸ’™ To every widow, widower, and grieving heart: We see you. We understand. We are walking this journey together.

WSTT – We Heal and Grieve Together.
