Tobago Public Health Outreach 🇹🇹

On Tuesday, our Diabetes Association interns and staff travelled to Tobago for a public health outreach at Lowlands Mall!

We engaged with members of the public by providing free blood sugar and blood pressure screenings, thereby promoting awareness and encouraging everyone to take an active role in their health. 🩺

For our interns, this was more than just a field trip. It was an opportunity for them to gain hands-on experience in health education and community outreach while also seeing firsthand the importance of preventative healthcare and the role they can play in creating healthier communities. 🏠

A heartfelt thank you to TATIL and TATIL Life for supporting opportunities that allow our interns to learn beyond a classroom, develop valuable skills and make a meaningful impact in communities across Trinidad and Tobago. 🇹🇹 🫂

On Tuesday, the interns had the opportunity to visit the Ministry of Health for an interactive and educational field trip! 🩺🇹🇹

They engaged with the Health Education Unit and the Nutrition and Metabolism Unit, gaining valuable insights into health and nutrition as well as the work being done to promote healthier communities. 🏠🏡

The session continued with a special visit from the Honourable Minister of Health, Dr. Lackram Bodoe. He shared his career journey and took the time to connect with our interns, answering questions and sharing words of advice. 🥼🩺📚

A special thank you to the Minister of Health and his team for welcoming our interns, sharing their knowledge and creating such a meaningful learning experience! We truly appreciate it. 😊
