Nidhi Kirpalani, Clinical & Counselling Psychologist, Sandtray & Brainspot

Nidhi Kirpalani, Clinical & Counselling Psychologist, Sandtray & Brainspot I have a M.Sc. Clinical Psychology (U.W.I.) and a M.Sc. Counseling Psychology (U.S.C.) and am an International Credentialed Sandtray Therapist (ICST-P #006).

I am a Clinical & Counseling Psychologist , and Credentialed Sandtray Therapist - Provider
Trauma trained
Polyvagal trained
Brainspotter
Sandtray Therapy Trainer
International Speaker
Advocate I have a passion for what I do, what I study, and the impact that it makes on other people's lives as it does on mine. I practice creative therapies, mostly sand tray therapy for groups, couples and indivi

duals in therapy. (with BOTH adults & children!)

During covid I offer online and in-person sessions. This is done by appointment only. My Offices are in Maraval & Chaguanas. My office in St. Augustine is temporarily unavailable. I believe each person is different and what may suit one person's needs may not suit the other. Therefore I use a mix of psychological theories based on the person I am working with and what they are comfortable with. Come share your story. Come heal your story. You're worth it.

📣 2 WEEKS AWAY ✨

What if healing didn’t require perfection…
but instead invited permission, compassion, and a deeper sense of self?

Join Jackie Flynn & Nidhi Kirpalani for this powerful experiential workshop:
“Imperfectly Human: Permission, Compassion, and a Sense of Self in Sandtray Play Therapy.”

Together, you’ll explore:
🌿 Interpersonal neurobiology + the Neurosequential Model
🌿 Polyvagal Theory + EMDR-informed approaches
🌿 Self-compassion research + relational healing
🌿 How these frameworks come alive through sandtray

This is the kind of training that doesn’t just teach—it shifts how you show up in the room.

⏳ We are just 2 weeks away—now is the time to grab your spot and make your plans!

I’m so happy to share that I am now officially a Brainspotting Consultant. 💙

This one means a lot to me.
Not only because I feel like it honors the very day Carmen Jiminez Pride suggested I try it out...
Not only because my amazing Trainer, Dr. Susan Pinco believed in me,
But also because of what Brainspotting continues to deepen in me as a therapist: neurobiological attunement.

What I love most about this work is that it reminds us healing is not only about talking harder or thinking better. So much healing happens when we slow down enough to listen to the body, the nervous system, and the deeper places where experience has been held.

Over time, one of the most extraordinary parts of my practice has been integrating Brainspotting and Sandtray Therapy. There is something incredibly powerful about combining deep brain-body processing with symbolic, sensory, and relational expression. Again and again, I’ve witnessed how this integration can help clients access what words alone often cannot.

This work continues to shape me as a psychologist, trainer, and consultant, and I’m deeply grateful.

If you are:
✨ a therapist looking for Brainspotting consultation
✨ interested in Brainspotting, Sandtray Therapy, or their integration
✨ seeking therapy support that is grounded in attunement, the nervous system, and deeper healing

… I’d be honored to connect with you.

Thank you to Sue and my brilliant CIT group, and to all those who have supported me along the way. This is meaningful work, and I’m excited for what’s ahead. 🌿

CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS IN RESEARCH

Are you struggling with insomnia? You may be eligible to participate in a research study exploring an innovative therapy approach.

My name is Nidhi Kirpalani, Clinical and Counselling Psychologist and Doctoral Student at the International University for Graduate Studies (IUGS). I am conducting a research study to investigate whether Brainspotting therapy is effective in reducing symptoms of insomnia in adults.

I am currently recruiting 10 adult participants who have experienced symptoms of insomnia for at least the past month. Participation includes 10 free Brainspotting therapy sessions, conducted either online via Zoom or in person (for individuals located in Trinidad and Tobago).

What is Brainspotting?
Brainspotting is a neuro-experiential, brain-body therapy that uses eye position to help individuals access, process, and release unresolved trauma and emotional stress stored in the nervous system. By focusing on specific “brainspots” while maintaining mindful awareness of the body, this method supports deep regulation and healing.

What’s Involved?
- A screening interview to confirm eligibility
- Completion of pre- and post-treatment questionnaires
- Participation in 10 one-on-one Brainspotting therapy sessions targeting symptoms of insomnia
- Sessions may be held virtually or in person, depending on your location

Eligibility Criteria:
- Adults 18 years or older
- Experiencing insomnia symptoms for at least one month

Exclusion Criteria:
Participants are not eligible if they:
- Work night shifts or rotating shift schedules
- Are currently taking medication specifically prescribed for sleep or a CPAP machine
- Are caring for an infant under 1 year of age and frequently waking to feed
- Are experiencing insomnia primarily due to menopause-related symptoms (e.g., hot flashes)
- Have substance-induced insomnia

Participation information:
- Voluntary and confidential
- No cost to participate
- Approved by the University’s Institutional Review Board (IRB)
- You may withdraw from the study at any time

Shame can be crippling.

“Shame dies when stories are told in safe places.” – Ann Voskamp

I’m excited to share that I am now a Certified Shame-Informed Therapist through Evergreen.

Shame can quietly shape our lives, our choices, and even our relationships. But when met with compassion, understanding, and safe connection, it no longer has the same power.

This certification deepens my commitment to creating spaces where healing, courage, and wholeness can grow. 🌱

This popped up on my memories! 2022 Art Therapy training with Sr. Julie Peters was AMAZING! I still remember being in that training and learning so many beautiful techniques that I even use in the Sandtray now, or with Brainspotting!

Still hoping one day she does Part 2 training again :)

Art Therapy is sometimes so relieving in the therapeutic space. There's no judgement on how neat or perfect it is, sometimes we do pure scribbles!!! That's my favorite kind of art! That which comes from the subconscious to free us from the anxiety, from the expectations, and helps us to regulate our nervous system and come back to authenticity.
