WHAT ARE OUR CHILDREN CARRYING? 🎒

Sometimes we prepare our children for a new school year by making sure they have the books, uniforms, shoes, pencils and school supplies they need.

But what about the things they are carrying inside their hearts and minds?

We are deeply grateful for the L I F E - Love Is Forever Excellent for the opportunity to have Mrs. Denielle Placide serve as the Feature Speaker at their Back-to-School Community Initiative in Morne Diable.

Mrs. Placide challenged the young people to pack five things for the journey ahead:

🎒 IDENTITY - I KNOW WHO I AM. Other people's opinions don't decide my worth.

🎒 COURAGE - I CAN DO HARD THINGS. Being courageous doesn't mean we are never afraid. It means we can be afraid and still take the next step.

🎒 WISDOM - I MAKE GOOD CHOICES. Before you follow the crowd: STOP. THINK. CHOOSE.

🎒 KINDNESS - I CAN BE SOMEONE'S SAFE PLACE. We never know what someone else is carrying. A simple act of kindness can make someone feel seen, valued and safe.

🎒 HOPE - I CAN START AGAIN. A bad day is not a bad life. A mistake is not the end. You can begin again.

But sometimes children carry things that don't fit neatly into a schoolbag : fear, rejection, bullying, disappointment, anger, shame, struggles at home, or things they don't know how to talk about.

So they were reminded: YOU DON'T HAVE TO CARRY IT ALONE.

Asking for help is not a weakness. Sometimes strength sounds like, “I need help,” and knowing when to reach out to a trusted adult can make all the difference.

The parents also received a few important nuggets:

✔️ Parent the child you have, not the child you were.

✔️ Your child needs your PRESENCE more than your PRESENTS.

✔️ Children learn what they live and live what they learn.

The shoes, books, backpacks and school supplies matter. But our children also need to know:

💛 My parent sees me.
💛 My parent hears me.
💛 I can make a mistake and still come home.
💛 I don't have to be perfect to be loved.

Because one day, they will carry what we have placed in their emotional backpack into the world.

To the team at L.I.F.E. — Love Is Forever Excellent Foundation , thank you for investing in our children and families and for creating spaces where young people can be encouraged, equipped and reminded of their worth and potential.

Parents, as this new school year begins, don't just ask: “What's in their backpack?”

Ask:
What are they carrying in their heart?
What are we putting there?
What do they need us to help them unpack?

May we give our children more than things to carry.

May we give them identity.
May we give them courage.
May we teach them wisdom.
May we model kindness.
May we nurture hope.

Thank you, for allowing us to be part of this meaningful initiative in Morne Diable. It was an honour to serve. 🙏🏽

💍Before "I Do" Series💍Marriage Won't Heal You, But It Will Magnify What Needs Healing

Many people enter marriage hoping it will finally fill the emptiness they've carried for years.

They believe...
💍Once I'm married, I won't feel so lonely.
💍When someone truly loves me, I'll finally feel enough.
💍Marriage will make everything better.

Love is powerful and Marriage is beautiful. But neither was designed to heal every wound we carry.

Marriage can provide support, offer companionship and create a safe place for growth.

But it cannot do the deep healing that each person must choose for themselves.

In fact, marriage often magnifies what already exists within us.

🔸If you've never learned how to communicate your feelings, marriage will invite you to learn.
🔸If you struggle to trust because of past betrayal, that fear may surface in your relationship.
🔸If you've spent your life believing you're not enough, you may constantly seek reassurance from your spouse.
🔸If conflict frightened you as a child, you may withdraw or become defensive whenever disagreements arise.

This doesn't mean your marriage is failing. It means something deeper is asking for your attention.

Healthy marriages don't avoid these moments. They use them as opportunities to grow.

Instead of asking, Why is my spouse making me feel this way? Try asking, What is this situation revealing about me?

Sometimes the greatest gift your spouse gives you isn't comfort. It's helping you become aware of the places where healing is still needed.

That awareness isn't something to fear. It's an invitation to heal, grow and thrive.

Healing is not about becoming perfect before marriage.

It's about being willing to do the work, both before and throughout your marriage.

The healthiest couples understand that they are not responsible for fixing one another.

They are responsible for loving, supporting, encouraging, and growing alongside one another.

Your spouse is your partner, not your therapist, your saviour, or the solution to every wound you've ever carried.

💍A thriving marriage is built when two people take responsibility for their own healing while choosing to walk through life hand in hand.💍

Because the strongest marriages aren't made up of two perfect people.

They're made up of two people who are humble enough to keep growing.

Reflection Questions
Am I expecting someone else to heal something that I need to face myself?

Remember, awareness is not condemnation, it is the first step toward transformation.

💍Before "I Do"💍 The Marriage You Saw Growing Up May Be Shaping the Marriage You're Preparing to Build

Before you ever dreamed about getting married, you were already learning what marriage looked like.

Long before you said, "I want to be a husband," or "I want to be a wife," you were watching the adults around you.

You were learning...
🔺How love was expressed.
🔺How conflict was handled.
🔺Whether apologies were given.
🔺Whether affection was shown.
🔺Whether people felt emotionally safe.
🔺Whether respect was earned or demanded.
🔺Whether marriage brought peace or pain.

These experiences quietly become the lens through which we view relationships.

Some of us grew up watching marriages filled with love, teamwork, laughter, and forgiveness.

Others witnessed constant arguing, silence, emotional distance, betrayal, abuse, addiction, or separation.

Some of us never saw a healthy marriage at all.

The important question isn't whether your childhood was perfect. The question is: "What did I learn about marriage and is it helping or hurting the relationship I'm trying to build?"

Without realizing it, we often carry these beliefs into adulthood. Sometimes we repeat what we witnessed.

Sometimes we spend our lives trying to avoid becoming our parents.

Both responses can shape our relationships if we never stop to examine them.

The beautiful truth is this:

🎯Your past may explain you, but it doesn't have to define you.
🎯You can choose a different path.
🎯You can learn healthier ways to communicate.
🎯You can build emotional safety.
🎯You can break unhealthy cycles.
🎯You can create a marriage marked by respect, grace, honesty, and connection even if you've never seen one before.

🎯Healing begins when we become aware of the story we've inherited and intentionally decide what story we want to write next.

Your family history may have been your first teacher. It doesn't have to be your final destination.

💛 Ask yourself:

What is one healthy lesson about marriage I learned growing up?

What is one unhealthy pattern I don't want to carry into my future or current marriage?

What kind of marriage do I want my children or the next generation to witness through me?

💍Before "I Do" Series💍 Are You Ready for Marriage... or Just Ready to Be Married?

One of the biggest misconceptions about marriage is that if you're in love, you're ready. Love is beautiful but love alone doesn't prepare you for marriage.

Marriage asks much more of us than romantic feelings.

It calls us to communicate honestly, navigate conflict with grace, make sacrifices, extend forgiveness, remain faithful, and continue choosing one another through every season of life.

The question isn't simply: "Have I found the right person?" It's also: "Am I becoming the right person?"

Being ready for marriage isn't about having all the answers or being perfect. None of us are.

It's about having the willingness to grow, to learn, and to take responsibility for your own emotional, relational, and spiritual health.

Here are a few questions worth asking yourself:

💍Can I communicate my thoughts and feelings with honesty and respect?
💍How do I respond when I'm hurt, disappointed, or corrected?
💍Am I willing to apologize and take responsibility when I'm wrong?
💍Have I begun healing from past relationships and unresolved wounds?
💍Do I expect a spouse to complete me, or to journey alongside me?
💍Am I prepared to serve, not just to be served?

Marriage has a way of magnifying what already exists.

If you struggle with communication now, marriage won't automatically fix it.
If you avoid conflict now, marriage will eventually expose it.

If you haven't addressed your emotional wounds, they don't disappear at the altar they often surface within the relationship.

The good news is that readiness isn't about perfection.
It's about humility.
It's about being teachable.

It's about recognizing that healthy marriages are built by two people who are committed to growing individually and together.

Preparation is one of the greatest gifts you can give your future spouse and yourself.

Because a lasting marriage isn't built by people who know everything.

It's built by people who never stop learning.

💛Reflection Question:
When you think about marriage, what area of personal growth do you believe God or life is inviting you to work on before saying "I do"?

This is Us 💛

💍Before "I Do" Series💍 Why Do You Want to Get Married?

For many people, marriage is a dream. We dream about the proposal, the wedding, the dress, the photos, the honeymoon, and the life we'll build together.

But before we ask, "Who should I marry?" there is an even more important question:

"Why do I want to get married?" It's a question we rarely stop to answer honestly.

Some people long for marriage because they desire companionship, partnership and a life built on love and purpose.

Others may be motivated by loneliness, the fear of being left behind, family expectations, social pressure, or the hope that marriage will fill an emptiness inside.

None of these desires make you a bad person but they are worth exploring.

Because the reason you enter marriage often shapes the expectations you carry into it.

Marriage is not meant to rescue us from loneliness, heal our deepest wounds, or complete our identity. Those are burdens no spouse was ever designed to carry.

A healthy marriage is not built by two people searching to be completed.

It is built by two people who are committed to growing, serving, communicating honestly, extending grace, and choosing one another through every season of life.

Before saying "I do," take time to understand your own heart.

Ask yourself:
💍Why do I want to get married?
💍What am I hoping marriage will give me?
💍Am I pursuing marriage from purpose or from pressure?
💍Am I prepared to give as much as I hope to receive?
💍Am I becoming the kind of person I hope to marry?

The healthiest marriages don't begin at the altar.

💛 Reflection Question:

If marriage didn't change your relationship status, would you still want it? Why?

THE MAN IN ME Masterclass
Every man wears a mask sometimes. The mask that says:
“I’m fine.”
“I’ve got it under control.”
“I don’t need help.”
“Real men don’t talk about that.”
“Nobody can know what I’m really dealing with.”

🤔But what happens when the mask becomes so familiar that you forget who you are underneath it?

It’s time to take a risk. Not the risk of pretending to have all the answers. The risk of showing up honestly.

❌NO MORE MASKS - You don't have to pretend to be okay.
❌NO MORE LIES - You can confront the beliefs that have shaped your life.

✔️JUST TRUTH - You can face who you really are and who you are becoming.

The Man in Me is a 7-session transformational masterclass for men 18+ who are willing to take the risk of showing up with honesty and vulnerability for themselves and the group.

✔️This is not about being a perfect man. This is about becoming a more truthful man.
✔️A more self-aware man.
✔️A more emotionally honest man.
✔️A man who is willing to face himself.

Because what you refuse to confront can continue to control you.

And sometimes, the greatest transformation begins when a man finally says: “I am ready to take off the mask.”
