🍃 International Tea Day | May 21st | “Tea for Wellness” 🍵

Today, as the world observes International Tea Day, we join the global community in celebrating one of nature’s most grounding and restorative gifts — tea.

This year’s UN-recognized theme, “Tea for Wellness,” beautifully reflects what many cultures have long understood: tea is more than a beverage. It is nourishment, ritual, connection, and a gentle pathway back to balance — for both body and mind.

As highlighted by the United Nations observance, tea continues to play a vital role in supporting livelihoods, preserving cultural heritage, and advancing sustainable agricultural practices that honour the environment.

In alignment with our recent reflections on “The Environment”, today invites a deeper question: when we nurture the earth with intention, what else can it give back to us in return?

At Olive Tree Wellness, tea is held as a sacred everyday ritual — a moment of pause, reflection, and healing. It is woven into our wellness approach as a simple but powerful practice of restoration. We also proudly incorporate Kenyan teas within our blends, honouring the richness, strength, and legacy of tea-growing communities.

We are delighted to share and acknowledge celebrations from our friends at KTDA Holdings Limited who continue to honour this global day with pride and purpose:

The environment is more than the spaces we inhabit—it is the foundation of our wellbeing, the legacy we shape, and the sacred responsibility we share. At Olive Tree Wellness, we invite you to reflect on how our choices, actions, and awareness can nurture healthier lives, healthier communities, and a healthier planet.

✨ This month, join us in exploring the deeper connection between wellness and our environment—and the role each of us plays in cultivating sustainable transformation.

Introducing...North-east Tobago!!

Our paradise, within the paradise of OTW's home, Tobago- our grounding and healing place!
Home to the Main Ridge Forest Reserve- celebrating 250 years having been established April 30th, 1776.
North-east Tobago, in recent times attained the UNESCO Man and the Biosphere Reserve designation in 2020.

Just a taste from the North-east Tobago UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Management Plan https://www.tobago-biosphere-region.com :-

"The global Man and the Biosphere Programme promotes solutions reconciling the conservation of biodiversity with its sustainable use. They are learning areas for sustainable development under diverse ecological, social, and economic contexts.

As all global Biosphere Reserves, our North-east Tobago UNESCO Biosphere Reserve has the goal to harmonise: conservation of biological and cultural diversity, with green economic development, and social improvements, and sharing our experiences through research and networking with our global partners.

Our Biosphere Reserve consists of three areas or zones:
The core zone are our legally protected areas: the Main Ridge Forest Reserve, Little Tobago, and St Giles in which human activity is strictly limited and where monitoring of conservation priorities take place.

In the buffer zone, which is between the protected areas and the villages, “soft” activities such as, ecotourism, sustainable agriculture and fishing, education and training are strongly encouraged.

The transition zone contains all villages, roads and infrastructure from Belle Garden to Charlotteville to Moriah.

North-east Tobago is Trinidad & Tobago’s most iconic conservation landscape; the area’s rare and largely intact Caribbean Island Ridge-to-Ocean landscape, its biodiversity, range of ecosystems, and special-interest species are significant on a regional and global scale.

Covering over 835 square kilometres, North-east Tobago encompasses three protected areas, one of which is the oldest protected tropical forest reserve in the world (the first Natural National Heritage Site of the country), a multitude of proposed Cultural National Heritage Sites, a planned Marine Protected Area of coral reefs and open ocean, three Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas and 15 communities which are home to approximately 10,000 residents with a rich historical and cultural heritage."
