🎉 Last month, together with our partners Flexicare Medical, we were thrilled to relaunch the Flexicare line of products in Trinidad & Tobago.

ℹ️ We hosted three evenings of informational talks, product demonstrations, and Q&A sessions which were well attended by members of the regional health authorities. In the weeks that have followed we've received lots of interest in their line of products and we're excited to expand their offering locally and regionally.

📽 A highlight of the relaunch was the demonstration of Flexicare's ProVu(R) video laryngoscope for use in video assisted intubation. This product includes a Bright White LED which offers a 60˚ field of view of the glottic area. Its optimized focal camera, blackout and blind-spot reduction technology, and reduced shading effect of an ET tube, makes it ideal for elective and unanticipated difficult airway management.

🙏🏽 We would like to thank the Flexicare team, including their Business Development Manager for Latin America, Mr. Courtland Tingen, and our ABSCIMED team for all their efforts in executing this relaunch. We would also like to thank all the suppliers and venues for helping us facilitate two successful events.

🏥🩸💉 Beyond a national infrastructure level, there's a lot that goes into an efficient blood donation system, including access to the many supplies which are used for donor screening and blood collection, storage, and processing.

- Vital signs monitors, glucose monitors, and scales are used to screen donors and ensure that they can safely give blood.
- Blood donor chairs / couches provide a comfortable, safe position for the donor and surfaces for accessories to be placed.
- Blood mixers / collectors prevent clotting during collection by gently rocking the sample to homogeneously mix the blood with anticoagulant.
- Blood bag tube sealers seal blood bags to prevent splashing and spilling.
- Temperature controlled boxes / containers are used to safely transport blood components.
- Refrigerated centrifuges are used to separate serum and plasma from blood.
- Blood bank refrigerators provide secure cold storage for blood and blood components.
- Platelet incubators and agitators provide a stable and uniform temperature and continuous motion for the storage of platelets
- Plasma freezers quickly freeze and store plasma and related blood components.
- Plasma thawing baths quickly thaw frozen plasma.
- Cell washing equipment conduct antibody searches and check for cross-matching between donor and recipients.
