在 Ben Williams 翻譯與研究的《Cidvilāsastava》中,特別談到 Guru(上師)雙足與聖履(Gurupādukā)的象徵意義。
In Ben Williams’ translation and study of the Cidvilāsastava, special attention is given to the symbolism of the Guru’s feet and sacred sandals (Gurupādukā).
這讓我想到 Richard Freeman 在《Mirror of Yoga(瑜珈之鏡)》中,也曾談到上師雙足的重要性。
This reminds me of Richard Freeman’s Mirror of Yoga, where he also reflects on the importance of the Guru’s feet.

In many Indic traditions, the Guru’s feet are regarded as symbols of sacred wisdom and lineage.

White symbolizes Śiva and prakāśa, the pure luminous nature of consciousness itself.
在非二元 Śaiva 哲學中,
In nondual Śaiva philosophy,
Prakāśa 指的是純粹光明的意識本身。
Prakāśa refers to consciousness as pure luminosity.
而 Vimarśa 則是意識能夠認知自身的反思性力量。
Vimarśa is the reflective power through which consciousness becomes aware of itself.
兩者的合一,也就是 Śiva 與 Śakti 的合一。
Their union is the union of Śiva and Śakti.
這被理解為最高的非二元狀態。
This is understood as the highest nondual state.
因此,上師雙足不只是對一位人的崇拜。
Therefore, the Guru’s feet are not merely the object of worship for a person.
它象徵 "意識 "對自身本源的回返。
They symbolize consciousness returning to its own source.
也象徵透過上師恩典(Grace)與傳承,突破二元性的束縛。
They also symbolize transcending the bonds of duality through the Guru's grace and traditional lineage teaching
另外一個瑜珈歷史一幕中- 這讓我想到
《Rāmāyaṇa》中關於 Pādukā(草鞋/聖履)的象徵。
This also reminds me of the symbolism of the Pādukā (sacred sandals) in the Rāmāyaṇa.
當 Rāma 流亡於森林時,
When Rāma was exiled to the forest,
他的弟弟 Bharata 並沒有坐上王位。
his brother Bharata refused to sit upon the throne.

而是將 Rāma 的 Pādukā 放在王座之上,等待他歸來。
Instead, he placed Rāma’s sandals upon the throne while waiting for his return.

This symbolizes a subtle presence that remains even in physical absence.

For this reason, many yogic and ta***ic invocations begin

with salutations to the lotus feet of the Guru or gurus.

vande gurūṇāṃ caraṇāravinde
「我頂禮 Guru 們如蓮花般的雙足。」

This is not merely an act of respect expressed through the action of bowing.
更是一種修行上的提醒:
It is a spiritual and practical reminder and teaching.
希望透過 Guru 的恩典、知識與傳承,
that through the Guru’s grace, knowledge, and lineage,
我們能夠穿越二元性的羈絆,
We may transcend the bonds of duality,
回到 "意識" 本身的完整性。
and return to the wholeness of consciousness itself.
