This condition affects up to 200,000 babies worldwide every year. Luckily, it’s easily treatable – and our weekly Clubfoot Clinic does exactly that. Here’s to helping children step into the healthy, happy futures they deserve.

It’s Global Day of Parents — a day that resonates deeply with all of us at Kafika House.

The caregivers who bring their children to us, often travelling hundreds of kilometres across Tanzania, are our greatest allies. It is their love and determination that make every healing journey possible.

At Kafika House, our children are encouraged to solve problems, explore new ideas, and create through hands-on experiences. These opportunities help nurture curious, active minds while also building the confidence and skills they need to thrive long after they leave our care.

There's nothing better than time spent outdoors in the fresh air and under blue skies!

Our facility allows our children ample opportunities for play and fun, just as childhood should have.

The hands that build our community are something special.

For the children at Kafika House, there is always a hand to hold, a hand to help, and a hand to play with. This builds community, trust, and a sense of belonging that is so integral to our work and to our children’s healing journeys.

Our friends from Public Health Initiatives recently came by to teach mothers, caregivers, and older girls in our care how to crochet.

Not only is this a fun, creative new skill that engages the imagination, but it could be turned into a business that a mama could work on from home while continuing to care for her children.

Skeletal fluorosis doesn’t only affect one part of the body — it impacts the skeletal system as a whole. In many children, the most visible effects are in the legs, where bones may become bowed or misaligned. With the right intervention, these changes can be corrected, and alignment and mobility can be fully restored.

A health screening is often the very first step in a child’s journey to care. On outreach trips, we meet families in schools, clinics, and community spaces. We encourage them to bring forward any children who might meet our scope – and this is when screening takes place. A member of our medical team assesses each child, taking note of those we can treat, and referring others to medical partners who can help.

Thanks to our friends Nomad Tanzania for the pictures and partnership.
