If the menstrual cycle is regular and medium term (28-30 days), it is recommended to wait couple of weeks from the estimated menstruation and then do an ultrasound.

However if something, like a pain in a belly, bloody secretions, etc. are bothering you, these recommendations are not related to this situation. In this case, you can take an ultrasound earlier.

It’s important to understand that at earlier times a doctor can not see an embryo, or, if the ultrasound is provided in the beginning of the period's delay, not see a fertile egg in the womb at all. It is normal!
