To whom it may concern,

It is with great anger and disappointment that I address a troubling situation affecting my community elders. Recently, I have witnessed disrespect and confrontation directed toward our elders those who have dedicated their lives to serving and guiding us. This behaviour is not only unacceptable; it is a direct affront to the values we hold dear.

Our elders are the backbone of our community. They carry the wisdom of generations and deserve our utmost respect and protection. When you choose to fight or belittle them, you are not just attacking individuals; you are attacking the very fabric of our society. Such actions will not be tolerated.

I want to make it abundantly clear: anyone who dares to disrespect our elders should be prepared to face the consequences not just from them, but from me as well. I will not stand idly by while our community values are trampled upon. My anger is not just a personal response; it reflects the collective outrage of everyone who believes in the sanctity of our cultural heritage and respect for our leaders.

To those who think they can act with impunity: consider this a warning. Our elders have sacrificed so much for us, and I will fight fiercely to defend them and uphold our community’s integrity. We are stronger together, and I urge everyone to stand in solidarity against such disgraceful behaviour.

Let us remember our roots, our values, and the respect that our elders command. We are responsible for protecting them, and I will not hesitate to rise and ensure that our community stands united in the face of disrespect.

Dear President Salva Kiir Mayardit,

I write to you today as a concerned and heartbroken citizen of the Republic of South Sudan. With tears in my eyes and a heavy heart, I cry out for the lives of our fellow citizens, who continue to suffer and die at the hands of brutal ambushes, slaughtered like animals in cold blood. It is unbearable to witness such atrocities, especially knowing that we have a national army that is meant to protect us.

My distress deepens as the National Salvation Front (NAS) continues to kill both foreign travelers and our own citizens with no regard for human life. How can we reconcile these acts with the vision of peace and stability that we all hope for in our beloved nation? How can the lives of innocent people be taken so freely, while those responsible, such as the leader of the NAS, still operate businesses and maintain properties in the capital, Juba?

Mr. President, the people of South Sudan look to you and your esteemed leadership for protection, justice, and peace. We are deeply wounded by the ongoing violence, and we plead for a stronger and more decisive response. The killings must stop, and those responsible must be held accountable for their actions.

Your leadership is the light of hope in this dark time. We pray that you will hear the cries of the people and take the necessary steps to ensure the safety of every South Sudanese citizen and the many foreigners who reside and travel through our land.

Dear Dinka Community,

As we cherish and uphold our traditions, it is important to reflect on and adapt them to the changing times. One such tradition is the dowry system, a practice deeply rooted in our culture, symbolizing the union of families and the beginning of new life chapters. However, the current demands of dowry, often exceeding thirty cows, have become a significant burden, especially for many young men who are unable to afford such high costs.

The excessive dowry requirements not only place financial strain on families but also prevent many deserving gentlemen from fulfilling their dreams of marriage. This situation creates unnecessary stress and delays in starting families, impacting the well-being and harmony of our community.

We must remember that the essence of marriage lies in the love, commitment, and mutual respect between the couple, not in the material wealth exchanged. By reducing the dowry, we can make the process more inclusive and equitable, allowing more young people to marry without the burden of overwhelming financial demands.

Let us come together as a community to advocate for a reasonable and fair dowry system. By doing so, we uphold the true values of our culture—love, unity, and mutual respect—and pave the way for a brighter and more harmonious future for all families.

Together, we can create a change that respects our traditions while making them more sustainable and accessible for everyone.
