Mulago Specialised Women and Neonatal Hospital (MSWNH) serves as the teaching hospital of Makerere University College of Health Sciences in addition to training of Postgraduate Students and offering fellowships in Neonatology, Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) and Oncology. The Hospital opened and attained Vote status in July 2019, vote 180. MSWNH consists of the prenatal clinics, the delivery wards,
surgical theatres, recovery rooms and postnatal wards. The hospital caters to obstetric and gynaecologic patients. It has an oncology wing reserved for patients with gynaecologic cancers, including ovarian cancer, fallopian tube cancers, uterine cancer, endometrial cancer, cervical cancer, vaginal cancer and vulvar malignancies. The hospital also has state-of-the-art new-born wards, pre-term neonatal wards, a new-born intensive care unit and a wing for expectant mothers, those who have just delivered and gynecological cancer patients. The hospital has a unit specializing on obstetric fistula prevention, repair and rehabilitation as well as housing the first public fertility clinic in the country. MSWNH handles high-risk prenatal and high-risk gynaecology cases.
