Sometimes I observe clients with severe lumbar or cervical spondylosis, and experiencing severe pain during walking as a result of upward/downward and lateral displacement of the body center of gravity but, solely on pharmacotherapy without any consideration of co-opting orthotic intervention to counteract segmental movements and joint reaction/load, due to compression, tensile, shearing and translatory forces, that stress and strain the intervertebral disc(s) which also compress the nerve root(s) hence pain and discomfort. Concurrent inclusion of orthotics would indicate the importance of a transdisciplinary approach to orthopedic clinical treatment.
