Every year on June 3rd, we stop wherever we are, and we remember. Forty five young men, most of them barely adults, were executed because they would not let go of their faith. They had everything to lose. And they knew it.

What strikes us is not just that they died. It is how they died, praying, singing, and forgiving. That kind of steadiness does not come from nowhere. It comes from a faith that has gone deep, quietly, long before the moment of testing arrives.

At CURE Uganda, we walk alongside children and families who have held onto hope through long, difficult journeys to reach us. Mothers travel for days, carrying sick children and the quiet belief that something better is possible. We pray over those children and watch God move. In those moments, our skill alone does not hold us. Prayer holds usβ€”stubborn, faithful, daily prayer.

The Martyrs left us something to look back on. Today, we ask: what are we building forward? Go deep in your faith. Not for the dramatic moments, but for the ordinary ones that quietly shape who you are.

As we remember these brave young men, we hold onto the words of 1 Corinthians 16:13 β€” "Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong."

CURE Children's Hospital of Uganda is one of Africa’s leading pediatric hospitals for brain surgery and the treatment of neurological conditions. Initially treating , spina bifida, and encephalocele, now 𝐂𝐔𝐑𝐄 π”π πšπ§ππš also offers a comprehensive pediatric surgery program. In April, they celebrated 25 years of service with the inauguration of a new 13,300 ftΒ² surgical center.

The hospital's reach extends beyond the city of Mbale (Eastern Region) with regular remote clinics in six locations across Uganda, including Kampala. In May, 𝐂𝐔𝐑𝐄 π”π πšπ§ππš collaborated with Usratuna Rehabilitation Centre (Juba) and Aviation Fellowship to transport 10 pediatric patients requiring urgent neurosurgical intervention to Mbale from South Sudan.

Since 2017, we have provided ongoing supplies of anti-seizure medications to support CURE's young patients. Along the way, we've assisted the hospital in obtaining upgraded equipment for diagnostics and inter-operative neurological monitoring ( ). In response to the Ebola Virus Disease outbreak declared by the Ministry of Health on May 15, 2026, we have made some adjustments to our mobile clinic schedule out of caution and care for our patients, families, and staff. The Kampala clinic at Katalemwa Cheshire Home (May 29) and the Mbarara clinic at OURS Ruharo Mission Hospital (June 3) have been postponed. The Iganga clinic at Musana Community Health Center on May 28 will proceed as planned, but with strict adherence to safety protocols.

If your child was scheduled for either of the postponed clinics, our team will call you. No one will be left without follow-up.

When Esther arrived at CURE Uganda with her newborn son Sam, she had already been to hospital after hospital. The surgery cost she was quoted nearly made her give up entirely. Someone told her about a hospital in Mbale. She came. Sam had his surgery. He went home alive.

That is twenty-five years of CURE Uganda in one story.

On April 15, 2026, we opened a new 13,000 sq. ft. surgical center with 4 operating theatres, built for the children who are still coming. From the furthest corners of Uganda. Children whose conditions many hospitals do not treat, and some communities do not understand.

In 25 years, we have never turned a child away. Not once. This building is designed to remain unchanged.

1. For Dr. Ronald Bisegerwa, anesthesiologist at CURE Uganda, excellence is personal. Here he prepares a young patient for surgery, combining clinical precision with the kind of care that reminds every family they are in safe, committed hands.

Today, our team is on the ground at Gulu Regional Referral Hospital.

Mobile clinics are central to how we reach children who would otherwise struggle to access specialized neurosurgical care. By meeting families where they live, in communities far from our hospital in Mbale, we work to overcome the barriers of time, money, and trust that so often keep vulnerable children from the help they need.

Today, we celebrate the nurses of CURE Uganda, men and women who show up every day not just with clinical skill, but with prayer, compassion, and genuine love for the precious children and families in their care.

Nursing here looks like holding a mother's hand before her child goes into the theatre. It looks like praying over a ward before a shift begins. It looks like seeing a sick child and believing, as Luke 9:2 calls us, that healing is possible.

Yesterday afternoon, we received ten patients and their caregivers from Juba, South Sudan, all of whom require urgent neurosurgical intervention. The group was transported by Mission Aviation Fellowship – South Sudan as part of our ongoing partnership with them and USRATUNA, a medical organization based in Juba that identifies and refers critical pediatric neurosurgical cases to CURE Uganda.

This corridor of care, from USRATUNA's referral network in South Sudan, through MAF's air transport, to our neurosurgical team in Mbale, continues to bring children across borders to receive the specialized treatment they need. For families in Juba, this partnership is often the only viable pathway to neurosurgical care.

We remain grateful for the commitment of both MAF and USRATUNA to ensuring that geography does not determine a child's access to life-changing treatment.

For two years, a mother in Soroti City had been trying to find a way back. Her daughter had received surgery at CURE Children's Hospital, the kind of surgery that changes a child's future. But when the time came for follow-up care, transport costs made the journey impossible. And when she reached out to family for help, she was met with something worse than silence. Stigma. They didn't want to be associated with a child like hers.

So, the follow-up appointments came and went. The milestones her daughter should have reached with medical support slipped further away. In clinical terms, they call this "lost to follow-up." But behind that phrase is a mother who never stopped caring, she just couldn't get back.

Then she heard a team from CURE Uganda on the radio one evening. They were talking about a mobile clinic coming to Soroti City. CURE was coming closer. That radio program that evening was a door reopening for her precious daughter.

We know the roads to Mbale are long. We know transport costs are a real barrier for families already carrying so much. So instead of asking families to make that journey with sick children on difficult roads, we bring our services nearer to them because a child who received surgery deserves every follow-up milestone that comes after.

Our mobile clinics bring pediatric neurosurgical screening, follow-up care, and referral services to communities across Uganda.
