Advocacy is the heart of what we at APSCA Harford, Cecil, and Eastern Shore do. We were proud to participate in Juneteenth celebrations at multiple locations across Maryland, including a packed-to-capacity event in Cecil County. Our partners in the Staten Island NAACP Branch and Youth Council secured proclamations from NYS Assemblyman Charles D. Fall and NYS Senator Jessica Scarcella-Spanton. These honors were presented on June 19, World Sickle Cell Day, at the Staten Island Museum.
In addition, we are honored that Maryland Governor Wes Moore officially proclaimed June 19 as Sickle Cell Awareness Day in the state in 2023 and remains ongoing. This proclamation helps to raise critical awareness about this inherited blood disorder, combat prejudices, and highlight the need for improved health care access, health equity, and patient support for those affected.
Together, we are making our voices heard! We are stronger when we stand together. There is so much more work to do together.
Join us in fighting for the Warriors and SC trait Warriors.
