Thomas Earl West, 93, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at his home in Hamilton. Born on February 3, 1933, in Bartahatchie, he was a son of Thomas Richard and Zula Whitaker West. Growing up on the family farm, he continued to farm all his life, including raising a garden for his family and was known for having the biggest and best tomatoes each harvest season. He was married to the former Viola Hearn who preceded him in death. With little formal education, Mr. West was highly talented and could do just about anything from tearing apart motors and rebuilding to plumbing. His hobbies include fishing, hunting, and camping and he was a member of Hamilton Church of God of Prophecy.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at Hamilton Church of God of Prophecy with Bro. Billy Stevens officiating. Burial will follow in Center Hill Cemetery.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his sons, Kenneth Earl West (Linda), Danny Ray West (Kathy), and Thomas Steven West; 6 grandchildren, Jill Fikes, Sarah Reynolds, Kevin West, Blake West, Denise Buckner, and Lee West; 10 great grandchildren, Brandon, Westley, and Jon Parker Fikes, Simon and Mills Reynolds, Mason Buckner, Malachi Buckner, and Kaylee, Kinslee, and Kenna Rose West; and great-great grandchildren, Lake and Annistyn Fikes and Luci Fikes.

Preceding him in death are his parents; his wife of 59 years, Viola West; brothers, Marlin West and Richard ‘Junior’ West; and sisters, Vera Chaffin, Dorothy Allen, and Cliffard White.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Westley Fikes, Brandon Fikes, Jon Parker Fikes, Kevin West, Lee West, Simon Reynolds, and Kelly Reynolds. Honorary pallbearer will be Blake West.

Visitation will be on Sunday afternoon from 2 until 3 p.m. at the church.

William Joseph “Billy” Brown, of Caledonia, passed away August 9, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle. He was a father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, and his presence will be deeply missed.

Billy was born September 15, 1958, in Peoria, Illinois. A graduate of Aberdeen High School, he spent most of his life in the Caledonia area. He worked for nearly 30 years at Tronox in Hamilton and was also a business owner.

Billy was a fitness enthusiast and accomplished bodybuilder who won multiple titles and awards. He enjoyed tinkering in his shop and took great pride in caring for his yard. He also loved riding his motorcycle and waterskiing.

He was admired by friends and coworkers alike. Those who knew him remember his love of laughter, his ready smile, and the energy and joy he brought into a room. His nieces and nephews remember his contagious laugh, wonderful personality, and memorable taste in music — Celine Dion, Journey, and Michael Bolton. Coworkers remember him as a hard worker who was always smiling, and friends remember him as loyal and someone they could count on.

Billy is preceded in death by his parents, Bobby Couch Brown and Karen Kay Perry Brown, and his brother, Edgar Marion Brown of Aberdeen.

He is survived by his children, Ashley Brown Gore of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; Blake Brown (Anna) of Huntsville, Alabama; Taylor Moore (Kendra) of Columbus; Molly-Kay Brown Darling (Dylan) of Little Rock, Arkansas; Donald Mayo (Jessica) of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; and Tyler Mayo (Jessica) of Nashville; his grandchildren, Jake Gore, Isabella Gore, Adrian Brown, Carter Moore, Casey Moore, Chance Moore, Sullivan Darling, Magnolia Mayo, Meadow Mayo, Siena Mayo, and Ava Mayo; his siblings, Bobby Huffman (Sherry) of West Point, Robert Brown (Sara) of Aberdeen, Cindy Brown of Starkville, and Jon Brown (Tara) of Aberdeen; and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Aretha Jordan, special friend and caretaker, and the wonderful doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers who cared for Billy during his illness.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12, at the Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home chapel in Aberdeen. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Blake Brown, Taylor Moore, Dylan Darling, Donald Mayo, Tyler Mayo, Jake Gore, Robert Brown, Jon Brown, Daniel Brown and Christopher Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Huffman and Benny Jones.

Visitation will be from noon until service time at the funeral home.

Richard William Coleman, 63, passed away on August 3, 2026 at his home. Richard was born on December 17, 1962 to Brent Wilson Coleman and Mabel Cummings Coleman. A graduate of Aberdeen High School, he had worked for Walker Manufacturing and recently retired from Cooper Tire/Goodyear. He enjoyed going to the beach and he was a friend to many. He was a member of First Christian Church, Aberdeen.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 9, 2026 at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home, Aberdeen with Rev. Fawn Keen officiating. Burial will follow in the Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery.

He is survived by his loving companion, Lisa Hudson, Aberdeen; his sister, Phyllis Coleman Thompson, Hamilton; 3 nieces, Carrie Kendrick, Nikki Coggins, and Brooke Rogers (Cody); great nieces and nephews, Brently Kendrick, Callie Kendrick (fiancé, Collin Stephens), Sawyer Coggins, and Colton Rogers; and numerous friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Linda Kay Clark Lochridge, 77, passed away peacefully at her home in Westville on July 28, 2026. She was born December 13, 1948, in Caldwell, Ohio, to the late George and Bertha (Ball) Clark. Linda settled down in Mississippi where she married her late husband, Raymond Oneal Lochridge, on November 19, 1970. A mother of two sons, Linda greatly enjoyed babysitting neighborhood children. She enjoyed listening to Elvis, reading voraciously, and spending time with family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen with Bro. George Collins officiating along with George Clark. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Westville.

She is survived by two sons, Stephen Lochridge (Lisa), of Nettleton, and Brian Lochridge (Shauna) of Fulton; brothers Wayne Clark (Sharon), Russell Clark (Shelia), and Jim Clark (Lisa); sister, Barbara Grywalski (Steve); grandchildren, Nathaniel Lochridge, Kayla Lochridge, Joshua Lochridge, and Autumn Lochridge; step-grandson, Chris Chambers; a host of nieces and nephews; and her devoted caregiver, Tracy Hawkins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Susan Poulton Sumner;and her husband, Oneal.

Pallbearers will be Alan Wayne Taylor, Joshua Lochridge, Kenneth Taylor, Neal Roberts, Leslie Kissel, and Toby Hawkins. Honorary pallbearer will be Michael Lochridge and George W. Clark.

Leira Christine Johnson Burns, 94, went to be in the arms of her Lord on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born on December 28, 1931, to Dee and Pearl Kennedy. A woman of profound faith, she was a devoted mother who loved her children and grandchildren more than could ever be expressed. The legacy she leaves to trust and lean on God’s perfect timing will live forever through her family because of her amazing spirit. She had a heart to help anyone any way she could and sought to better everyone’s life. Ms. Christine was a founding member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, and she served any way she could. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed fishing, and spending time with her family.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Nettleton with Bro. Jesse Betts and Bro. Blake Buchanan officiating. Burial will follow in the New Chapel Cemetery.

Betty Lane Hudson, 96, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2026, at North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice in Tupelo. She was born in Jackson, TN on January 25, 1930, to Clay Neely Akin and France Lane Akin. She was a graduate of the University of Mississippi with a degree in home economics and was married to Mr. Robert Hudson and later Mr. William Hudson, both of whom preceded her in death. She worked with her husband, Robert, in their pharmacy, Hudson’s Drug Store and she was a member of First United Methodist Church in Aberdeen. A true Aberdeen socialite, she was active in the Methodist Women’s Circle and the garden club. In addition, Ms. Hudson has been a member of the Tombigbee Chapter of DAR since its founding in November 1975, and she was named Regent from 1978-1980, and again from 1982-1984 where she displayed true leadership and inspiration. She took great pride in her heritage, encouraging others to be a part of supporting our nation’s history through American independence and the Revolutionary War.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at First United Methodist Church in Aberdeen with Rev. Fawn Keen officiating. Burial will follow in the Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Hudson (Richard Coleman), Aberdeen and Bobby Hudson (Rebecca); and cousins, Charles Lane Clay and Brent Lane.

Pallbearers will be Bob Scott, Nolan Bowen, Alan Gurley, Dale Pierce, Ed Mattox, Frank Bender, James Davidson, and Shae Cain. Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Herndon and Tommy Oaks.

James S. Laney, 86, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2026 at the NMMC-Tupelo. He was born in Monroe County on June 9, 1940 to parents Shelly Laney and Nelda (Mayfield) Laney. He lived most of his life in Louisiana but had resided in the Nettleton for the past 21 years. He completed his bachelors degree and was a retired nurse. He was of the Catholic faith. James enjoyed spending time at the Lee County Library and loved being on his computer.

Funeral Services will be held at 3 pm on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 in the Chapel of Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Nettleton with Rev. Robert Hogue officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery.

Visitation will be prior to service at the funarel home from 2-3 pm.

He is survived by his cousins Dolyle Young, Linda Payne, Paul Laney, David Young, Craig Young, Lisa Rye and Kristy Kelly.

He was preceded in death by his parensts and two sisters.

Vivian Leila (Rogers) Capps, 88, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2026 at her residence in Nettleton. She was born in Franklin County, AL on February 9, 1938 to parents George Artie Rogers and Lola Bell (Cagle) Rogers. She lived most of her life in the Lee County area. She was a retired seamstress for Reeds Manufacturing in Nettleton and was a member of Jones Chapel Baptist Church. Leila enjoyed cooking for her family, fishing and working in her garden. She loved sharing the Lord's word with others. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A Graveside Service will be at 11 am, Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at Liberty Cemetery with Bro. Wesley Stephens officiating. Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home of Nettleton will be in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 from 5-8 pm at the funeral home.

She is survived by one son, Tony Capps (Teresa), three grandchildren, Glenn Anthony Capps (Tessa),Kristian Little (Matthew), Brittany Underwood, six great grandchildren, K'lee Grace Capps, Kilee Brooks Capps, Jaxston Green, Lyla Green, Avery Gray and Norie Little.

Lillian Shaw, 84, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at North Mississippi Medical Center—Gilmore in Amory. She was born on March 30, 1942 in Okolona to Charles Shaw and Nellie Mae Culp Shaw. Prior to her retirement, she had worked as a medical technologist, an OTR truck driver, and as a schoolteacher. She enjoyed traveling, working in her flower garden, playing bridge, and reading.

There are no public services.

She is survived by two sons, Anthony Saraco and Michael Saraco; and daughter, Rosemary Saraco Payne; 10 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Jeanne Lynn.
