Research has shown a strong connection between untreated hearing loss and cognitive decline. When sounds reach the brain in a distorted way, the brain must work harder to process information, which may contribute to long-term changes in brain function. šŸ‘‚šŸ§

Studies suggest that hearing aids and auditory rehabilitation may help slow cognitive decline linked to hearing loss. Supporting hearing health is one way to support brain health.

Keeping hearing sharp helps keep the brain engaged. 😊

So here’s the thing, šŸ‘‡

Every patient’s hearing needs and sound preferences are unique. It’s not uncommon for people to notice differences in clarity or comfort between hearing aid brands.

Sometimes the best way to know what works for you is through a trial or a second opinion. Exploring different options can help ensure your hearing aids truly match your lifestyle and listening environments.

The right fit goes beyond just the device! šŸ˜€ We take a lot of pride in our counseling and hands-on experience with hearing health. We can help!

Hey… the "smartest" thing you’ll wear this year might actually be your hearing aids! 🦻😁
Auracastā„¢ Connectivity: Public audio streaming is now a reality. From silent TVs in sports bars to crystal-clear gate announcements, the world is becoming an 'open-audio' playground for our patients at Falls Hearing.
While we are still waiting for the first local installations here in Abingdon,, this tech is a game-changer for travelers! You might already run into Auracastā„¢ at major hubs like the Chicago O'Hare Airport, the Marriott Theatre in Chicago, or larger places of worship!

Have you or someone you know been able to test out Auracast? Tell us what you thought! šŸ‘‡

If you’re a patient of mine, you have probably heard me say this a million times. šŸ˜‚

We don’t just listen with our ears; our brains play a major role in how we understand speech! 🧠

Hearing is not only about detecting sound, but about how the brain processes and makes sense of it.

As part of a comprehensive hearing evaluation, we often include word recognition testing. This allows us to assess higher-level auditory processing and better understand how your brain interprets incoming sounds, especially in real-world listening situations.

This information helps us make the most appropriate and personalized treatment recommendations.

And now you know! šŸ’”āœØ

June is Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month, a time to highlight the important connection between hearing and cognition. šŸ’œ Millions of individuals and families are impacted by Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.

Awareness, early identification, and supportive care play a key role in improving quality of life. Understanding how hearing health fits into brain health is one way we can better support our loved ones!

Do you know someone in your life who needs to schedule that hearing screening? šŸ¤”

Can you believe May has already come to a close? 😱

We’ve spent this month celebrating Better Speech and Hearing Month here in Abingdon, and it has been so rewarding to see so many of you prioritizing your health.

Our goal at Falls Hearing has always been to remind our community that hearing care is about the bridge to the people and moments you love. Whether it's catching a grandchild’s whisper or staying confident in a busy restaurant, those "small" moments are truly what make life big. šŸ’•

If this month taught us anything, it’s that small changes in your hearing are worth paying attention to before they feel like a "major concern."

Thank you for letting us be your resource for answers last month!

ā€œWhat are my options when it comes to getting help hearing?ā€
The honest answer is… it depends! Hearing health isn’t one-size-fits-all. It’s influenced by your hearing levels, your lifestyle, and the environments you’re in every day.
That’s why we believe in taking the time to walk through your options and help you understand what might work best for you.
There are many different tools and levels of support available, and part of our role is to help you:
1ļøāƒ£ Understand what’s going on with your hearing
2ļøāƒ£ Explore the options that fit your needs and daily life
3ļøāƒ£ Feel confident in whatever next step you choose
Whether you’re just starting to notice changes or simply want to learn more, our goal is to make sure you feel informed, supported, and never overwhelmed!
You don’t have to figure it out on your own, we’re here to help every step of the way. šŸ‘‚āœØ

ā€œHearing aids are basically the same as they were years ago.ā€ šŸ”ŠāœØ

This is one of the most common misconceptions we hear. In fact, 61% of clinicians report that patients today are more willing to use hearing aids than they were five years ago.

Modern hearing aids are smaller, more discreet, rechargeable, and offer Bluetooth streaming for calls and media. If your concerns are based on older technology, it may be time to see what has changed.

Today’s devices are built for modern life.

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their courage and dedication are the reason we enjoy the freedoms of everyday life! ā¤ļøšŸ¤šŸ’™

As we gather with family and friends this long weekend, we do so with gratitude and reflection. It’s a time to both remember those who served and appreciate the moments we’re able to share because of them.

Wishing everyone a safe, meaningful, and restful Memorial Day weekend!
