No such thing as too many babies! 🍼

Just before Mother’s Day, the Labor & Delivery team at Jefferson Abington Hospital welcomed a record 117 babies from May 3 to May 9. 💗

With 24 births on both Tuesday and Thursday alone, the week far exceeded the hospital’s typical average of 13 births per day. Throughout the busy week, certified nurse-midwives, physicians and support teams worked together to provide compassionate care and support for every growing family.

Congratulations to all of the families who recently welcomed new arrivals and thank you to the teams who helped make these moments so special.

While May 15th may be the internationally recognized Kangaroo Care Awareness Day, the Abington NICU turned it into a full week of education, connection & celebration! 🦘💚

Maizie, one of our recent NICU graduates, stopped by today with almost 100 brand new book donations - in both English & Spanish! 📚💖

Meredith, a friend of the family, helped organize the book drive in collaboration with PaperPie - who matched 50% of the money raised!

Reading to your baby is something that any parent can do, no matter your baby’s medical status. Donations like this help us to continue to facilitate and encourage this form of connection for families! THANK YOU!

Nurses Week FLEW by, and what a fun week it was getting to celebrate at “Camp NICU” 🏕️ We are so lucky to work with an incredible group of nurses who go above and beyond for their patients, their families, and for each other every single day. We can’t wait to see what our creative team comes up with for next year’s theme… 😉

Welcome to CAMP NICU! 🏕️ Each unit at Jefferson Health - Abington decorates for Nurses Week every year. With the help of our camp counselors - and some extra cute campers - our theme day was a huge success!

Our very own David Paul was recognized by the Delaware Academy of Medicine and Public Health with the Lewis B. Flinn President’s Award at their 96th Annual Dinner. Dr. Paul helped lead the initiative that reduced infant mortality in Delaware from 2005-2023. A truly well deserved honor!

Last Friday, some of the NSCA staff were able to attend the third annual Today is a Good Day Miracle Ball ✨💚 A beautiful and inspiring evening that was able to help raise money to help NICU families!

February is Full Term NICU Awareness month! People most commonly associate a NICU stay with prematurity, but over half of all NICU admissions are babies born at 37+ weeks.

George is one of our full term NICU success stories! His family do a book drive every year to help support the families in the Abington NICU - a special thank you to the teachers at Lower Moreland High School & Jenkintown Middle/High School for donating this year!
