Children's Counseling & Trauma Treatment We are a private mental health practice servicing children and adolescents ages 3-19 years old. We accept MassHealth and various private insurances.

Children's Counseling & Trauma Treatment is a private therapy practice located in the town center of Acushnet, MA. We accept most major insurances including but not limited to BCBS, Tufts, MassHealth, Harvard Pilgrim, and Optum coverage; we also have private pay options. We are able to provide treatment to children and adolescents, ages 3-19 years old, with a range of diagnoses including but not

limited to adjustment disorders, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, PTSD, ADHD, ODD, and other behavioral concerns. Rachael is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) with an office located in Acushnet, MA. She works with children, young adults, individuals and families using an eclectic approach tailored to the unique needs of each new client. Rachael has over 13 years of experience in a variety of settings and with diverse clients, including both long-term and brief interventions. In her private practice, Rachael assists clients coping with:
- Children and adolescents who are working through s history of
trauma, PTSD
- Anxiety, depression, ADHD, ODD, and other behavioral concerns
- Relationship challenges: families
- Phase-of-life changes, grief, and loss
- Life stressors and next steps

Rachael utilizes a blend of cognitive behavioral and client centered therapy while also incorporating elements of play and art therapy. These advanced methods promote healing and desired change in a unique, gentle and respectful manner. There are so many changes that happen as families grow and develop with the passing years, and Rachael is here to help with these transitions. Rachael graduated from Salve Regina University in Newport, RI with her undergraduate degree in Social Work and graduated from the advanced placement program at Bridgewater State University in Bridgewater, MA with her master’s degree in Social Work. Rachael is also continuously seeking to gain more skills and broaden her education. For instance, Rachael has become a Certified Youth Trauma Provider in order to provide appropriate trauma treatment and complete trauma evaluations. Rachael believes that when people are given a chance to develop their strengths and and identify life and treatment goals change can happen. With the appropriate support and guidance children and adolescents can flourish and develop skills that are needed to help realize their potential and live a fulfilling and happy life. Rachael provides an environment of compassion and support to help children, young adults, individuals and families overcome obstacles to move forward and thrive. Jenny Young is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) with an office located in Acushnet, MA. Jenny works with children and adolescents ages 3-19 years old as well as their families. Jenny believes that a therapist’s role is to empower clients to achieve their goals and graduate from treatment with a skill-set to utilize in the days to come. Jenny treats a variety of diagnoses and issues including:
-Children and adolescents with PTSD or who have been exposed
to trauma
-Youth with anxiety, depression, and mood disorders
-Children and adolescents with ODD, conduct disorder, or ADHD
-Youth who are experiencing grief or loss
-Children and adolescents coping with adjustment disorders
-Families in need of support, coaching, or building more efficient
communication skills. Jenny applies a variety of evidence-based treatment interventions and modalities into both individual and family therapy sessions that are geared towards “where the client is at” in his or her life. Jenny enjoys using play therapy and expressive art interventions to help clients express themselves and their inner selves. Jenny works with clients on learning to be more self-aware of their bodies and strives to assist each client in developing their very own inventory of coping and calming skills and strategies. Jenny is a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and the International Association of Trauma Professionals (IATP). Jenny is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and a Certified Children and Adolescent Trauma Professional through the IATP. Jenny is a trauma-informed therapist and trained in the use and implementation of Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). Jenny utilizes a variety of standardized assessments and tools to assess for trauma, symptoms, and progress in treatment throughout the therapy process. Jenny holds a Bachelor’s of Social Work degree from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. where she graduated top of her class in the National Catholic School of Social Service. A year later, Jenny graduated from Columbia University, located in New York, NY. She graduated from the advanced standing program with a Master’s of Science degree in Social Work. Jenny believes that the therapeutic relationship plays a major role in a client’s success in therapy. Jenny uses an empathetic approach to provide a warm and comfortable space to work on becoming the best you!
