This Fourth of July, our driver Chris took the time to stop by Cherokee County Fire Stations 8, 11, and 22 to drop off a small token of appreciation for the firefighters who are always there when we need them.

In our line of work, there are times when situations are beyond what even two people can safely handle. Whether it’s helping us navigate narrow hallways, assisting with patients on stairs, or responding when the unexpected happens, Cherokee County Fire is always quick to help and does it with a smile.

We truly can’t thank Cherokee County Fire enough for the professionalism, kindness, and support they show our team and our patients every day.

A huge thank you to Chris as well. This was entirely his idea, and he spent his own time making it happen. His dedication to WellWay and the people we serve never goes unnoticed. We’re incredibly grateful to have someone with his passion and heart on our team.

🚗 Transportation Assistance for Qualifying Cherokee County Seniors

Getting to a medical appointment shouldn’t be a barrier to receiving quality healthcare.

Stand Up For Seniors is proud to offer transportation assistance for qualifying seniors in Cherokee County through our partnership with WellWay.

This program provides wheelchair-accessible and ambulatory transportation to local medical appointments, including destinations around Northside Cherokee Hospital and Kennestone Hospital. (Please note that transportation to Atlanta is not currently available.)

At WellWay, we believe leadership should stay connected to the day-to-day reality of what our patients and drivers experience.

Last week, one of our owners, Mitchell McLean, spent the day out on transports with the team. From helping patients door-through-door to seeing firsthand what our drivers navigate every day, staying hands-on is important to us.

That family-first mindset is a big part of what makes WellWay different. We’re grateful for leadership like Mitchell that’s always willing to jump in, stay involved, and lead from the front.

Miss Gladys reached out to us when things got tough.

She had a full schedule of medical appointments ahead of her, but had already exhausted her vouchers and Medicaid rides for the year. For someone in a wheelchair, that doesn’t just create an inconvenience, it can completely stop access to care. There’s no easy backup plan.

That’s where stepped in.

Because of their support, Miss Gladys was able to make every one of her appointments in March and April at no cost to her. No stress, no missed care, just consistency and dignity.

We’re incredibly grateful to partner with an organization that truly shows up for people when they need it most. They’re filling a gap that too often gets overlooked.
