Hey, hey! Reintroducing myself because as of last week, in addition to being an LMFT-S for two years and an AAMFT Approved Supervisor, I am also an LPC-S!

Shout out to everyone celebrating with me over the last week and a special shout out to who said in the team chat “YALLLLLL CORI GOT HER S ON HER CHEST!!!!” and who will also be my very first LPC Associate🎉. Second slide is for you!

I have been supervising for going on 5 years and in that time have had about two dozen supervisees! Shout out to everyone I have had the honor of supporting in their journey to and through this work!

And if you would like to supervise but are not close to getting the S on your chest, or if you’ve been supervising associates but would like to supervise grad students, I have some news for you! Stay tuned…

Five years ago today, Chill Counseling opened its doors. Last night, I got to celebrate with so many of the people who made that possible.

To those who came out and those who sent their well wishes from afar, thank you so much for supporting and inspiring the dream. Loved ones, colleagues, community partners, and the team itself, I appreciate you! 💕

A special shout out to everyone who reminded me to pause and reflect on this achievement, and just how big a deal it is. Statistically, only 55% of businesses make it past 5 years. Due to gender and racial disparities, this milestone is statistically much more difficult to reach for a Black woman-owned business. We made it because of all of you. Thank you for your continued support!

Calling all collaborators—psychiatrists, Psych NPs, counselors, and other wellness professionals. We’re cohosting the Growth Collaborative Mixer again and look forward to meeting with you! Come on out and learn about Chill Counseling and how we can partner with you to best support our community. ✨

We are located in Mesquite and Addison and also support clients across Texas virtually. We work with clients from all backgrounds, emphasizing care for underserved populations like BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and neurodivergent individuals. Across our many specialties, we really shine in our trauma work and relationship counseling (couples, polycules, family, chosen family, friends). If we support the same clients or we can fill a gap in the care you provide, we would love to connect!

RSVP and we will see you there!

💜✨ Big News ✨💜
I’m officially an AAMFT Approved Supervisor! 🎉

This designation reflects my intentional completion of:
📚Specialized coursework in supervision
📘 Mentorship + “supervision-of-supervision” hours
👩🏾‍🏫 Supporting several student and associate supervisees
🏆 Meeting AAMFT’s rigorous national standards

Now I can:
💜 Continue supervising LMFT Associates and students on their path to licensure or graduation
💜 Train and mentor future supervisors seeking the same designation
💜 Pour back into and help shape the field of marriage & family therapy

I’m proud of this milestone, but even more excited about the ripple effect it creates: continuing to supporting therapists and supervisors who will go on to support countless clients, clinicians, and communities.

Cardio & Community! We just wrapped the 3rd Annual Bridging the Gap Walk with , one of amazing community partners.

The walk is just one of many events that support BTGF’s mission to bridge the gap in mental health care in DFW.

There are a lot of voices in mental health right now. Acknowledgement is an important first step, but Advocacy and Assistance are absolutely crucial to impacting our community. In other words, we have to talk the talk AND walk the walk.

If you missed the walk, it’s not too late to support! Head over to Btgf.org to learn more and donate💚

Spent this morning thinking a lot about freedom. There’s so much complexity as I think about where and for whom freedom is restricted globally and locally. We are not all free in all ways. There’s too much to think and say and write (and of course, do), but today, I just want to commit to being free in the ways I can and invite others to do the same.

Whether you are reflecting, celebrating, resting, or working, Happy Juneteenth ✊🏾

Let’s talk about why therapists diversify their income — and no, it’s not just for the money.

We live in a world where our ethics, creativity, and boundaries matter. And sometimes, the 1:1 therapy model doesn’t hold everything we’re capable of offering.
From burnout prevention to reclaiming your voice, there are so many reasons to build beyond the couch.

I’ll be sharing more on this (and my own journey) during the Beyond the Couch panel on June 13 — an event (AND CEU) for therapists ready to build something sustainable, flexible, and aligned.

🗣️ This one’s for the therapists!

I’ve been hearing a lot about the “summer slump”—that time when consultations slow down, cancellations go up, and income takes a hit. And let’s be real, that sting hits harder when you also planned some (unpaid) time off.

If that’s you, here’s the truth: you can’t always prevent the slump, but you can prepare for it. Whether it’s summer, the holidays, or the month you finally take for self-care, let’s get you set up now.

As a therapist, you already have skills that translate beautifully to other types of work. But you also have passions, interests, and hidden gifts that don’t always get tapped in clinical sessions—and those might be the very key to your income stability.

We’re not promising that you’ll leave this panel with a fully built side hustle or a brand-new income stream. What I do hope is that you leave feeling inspired—and empowered to start planting seeds now, so you’re not scrambling when the next slow season hits.

(And TBH: some of those seeds might actually help you fill your clinical caseload, too.)

This isn’t a panel about what you should do. It’s a conversation about what’s possible. We’re sharing our stories—how we’ve taken our passion for helping others and extended it beyond the therapy room. Still holding space. Still creating change. Just doing it in a way that keeps us well, too.

Oh, and there’s more! There are reasons to diversify that go way beyond income. I’ll be sharing those later this week.
Can’t wait? Drop a comment or slide in my DMs. ☺️
