Barbara Graham Floyd, 84, of Barney passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, Georgia.
She was born on November 14, 1941, to the late Lewis Vivian Graham and Verna Clanton Graham and was a lifelong resident of Brooks County. Barbara was a loving, faith-filled, and thoughtful woman whose presence brought comfort and warmth to everyone blessed to know her. She was a true Southern lady in every sense, carrying herself with kindness, dignity, and a generous spirit that made her home and heart a welcoming place for family, friends, and neighbors alike.
Barbara devoted much of her life to caring for others. She was a homemaker and caregiver to many in her family, and she carried out that role with patience, tenderness, and unwavering dedication. Her life was centered on service, both in the home and in her church. She was a devoted member of Morrison Baptist Church and lived as a godly woman who kept her door open to all. Her faith was not simply something she professed, but something she practiced daily through her actions, her words, and the example she set for those around her.
Barbara was especially known for the love she poured into her family through her cooking. She loved to prepare meals that brought everyone together, and she found joy in gathering her loved ones around the table. A visit to her home often meant leaving with a full stomach and a happy heart, made fuller still by good conversation and the comfort of being in her presence. She believed in the power of family, food, and fellowship, and she created countless cherished memories through all three.
Her passions included gardening, sewing, cooking, canning, and reading, but there was no passion greater than the one she held for her family. Barbara loved flowers of all kinds, and she especially adored her orchids. She was a prominent figure in her grandchildren’s lives and took great pride in being involved in their world. She had a quick wit and a wonderful sense of humor, and those who knew her well will remember her lively spirit and the way she could brighten a room with a single remark or a knowing smile. Barbara was a force of nature who pushed herself harder than anyone else, and her strength was matched only by her compassion.
Barbara’s memory lives on in her daughter and son-in-law, Dianne Walters and Norman Steven Walters; her grandchildren, Norman Zackery Walters, Amanda Caitlyn Grace Walters, and Braeden Floyd; her brother and sisters, Lewis and Cindy Graham, David and Sharron Graham, Annie Strickland, and Merle Scherle; and her nieces and nephews, Hiram and Caroline Strickland, Anita and Jason Lindsey, Pam Parker, Debbie Rose, Cherie and Kurt, Ben and Wendy Graham, and numerous grandnieces and grandnephews. Strickland; and her niece, Elaine Spencer. Though her passing leaves a deep emptiness, her family takes comfort in knowing that her life was rich with love, faith, and devotion, and that her influence will continue to guide them for years to come.
Barbara Graham Floyd will be remembered for her steadfast faith, her loving heart, her thoughtful nature, and the many ways she cared for others. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, hard work, and family devotion that will not be forgotten. Her life was a beautiful testament to the values she held dear, and her memory will be cherished always by all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

Barbara may no longer be a phone call away, but she is also no longer in pain. She is reuniting with family long-lost and rejoicing in the grace of God. May her memory be an inspiration to those who knew and loved her. May her spirit be a guiding light that will continue to shape our lives She will be sorely missed for she will always be greatly loved.
There are no words to express how grateful we are to those who called to check up on her and came to see her as she fought her battle. To the one's who supported her as she passed on and her family through this difficult time. She was a stubborn woman, a strong fighter, and was a determined woman who faced life's challenges with grace and courage. It takes a wondrous person to be loved so much and by so many. And she was the best of all.
