💦 Water safety starts long before your child gets in the pool.

Whether you're spending time at the lake, the beach, or in your own backyard, a few simple precautions can help prevent drowning and keep summer fun safe for everyone.

The American Academy of Pediatrics has put together excellent tips for families, including:
🏊 Always provide close, undistracted adult supervision around water.
🦺 Use U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jackets when appropriate.

Drowning is the leading cause of death for children ages 1-4. The AAP recommends using multiple layers of water safety protection, since no single method can prevent drowning. 💙 Did you know newborns are born with very low levels of vitamin K?

That is why the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends a vitamin K shot shortly after birth. This simple injection helps prevent a rare but serious condition called Vitamin K Deficiency Bleeding (VKDB), which can cause dangerous internal bleeding in babies.
