Why Choose Infant Formula Over Cow’s Milk? 🍼

At Nuga Pediatrics, we understand that feeding your baby is one of the most important decisions you’ll make. While cow’s milk may seem like an easy alternative, it’s not recommended for infants under 12 months. Here’s why:

✅ Essential Nutrients – Infant formula is specially designed to provide the right balance of vitamins, minerals, and proteins that babies need for healthy growth and development.

🚫 Digestive Health – Babies under one year can have trouble digesting cow’s milk, which can lead to intestinal irritation and increase the risk of iron deficiency anemia.

🛡 Immune Support – Formula contains added iron and essential nutrients to support a baby’s developing immune system, unlike cow’s milk, which lacks these crucial elements.

For more details on why formula is the best choice for your little one before they transition to whole milk, check out this helpful resource from HealthyChildren.org:

Drowning is the leading cause of death for children ages 1-4, and it can happen quickly and silently. Even just a few inches of water can pose a serious risk to young children.

As families spend more time around pools, lakes, and other water this season, it is important to use multiple layers of water safety, including close supervision, swim lessons, and barriers around water.

Check out this helpful resource from HealthyChildren.org for important tips to help keep your children safe around water this summer. 💙

🛡️ Vaccines do more than protect your child, they protect your community.
Babies and children need vaccines to help stop the spread of dangerous germs and provide community immunity. This means protecting those who can’t be vaccinated or are at higher risk of serious illness.

👶 When most of us are protected, we help keep everyone safe.
Check out this visual from HealthyChildren.org and learn more about how vaccines save lives, not just your child’s, but your neighbors’, too.

In most cases, viral gastrointestinal illnesses like rotavirus don't cause serious illness, but children can feel quite sick. The symptoms of a rotavirus infection begin 1 to 2 days after exposure to the virus. Healthy children have symptoms for 3 to 7 days and then recover. In severe cases, children may become dehydrated and require admission to the hospital. Prolonged or severe diarrhea, particularly when accompanied by vomiting, can lead to dehydration.

The rotavirus vaccine is an oral vaccine that helps prevent rotavirus and reduces the severity of infection. If you have any questions about the rotavirus vaccine, speak with your pediatrician. https://bit.ly/3PGCNFW
