100 years calls for quite the celebration. 🎂💯

Virginia recently celebrated her 100th birthday at Southview, surrounded by family, friends, and plenty of people ready to make a big deal out of a very big milestone.
And the celebration stretched well beyond the room. More than 160 birthday cards came in from across the St. Louis community, surprise gifts arrived addressed simply to “Virginia’s 100th Birthday,” Crown Candy Kitchen sent a special treat, and one of our family members even brought in pizza for everyone to enjoy together.

For someone who has spent her life in the Affton and South St. Louis area, it was pretty incredible to see the community show up to celebrate right alongside us.

One more look at National Assisted Living Week, this time through the art. 🎨

Each theme gave Southview a new creative direction, from beach scenes and hibiscus flowers for Hawaiian Day to retro designs, colorful tiki art, and some very creative hats.
By the end of the week, they had quite the collection to show for it!

Southview understood the assignment. 👏

National Assisted Living Week gave everyone an excuse to have a little fun with their wardrobes, and they went all in. Cardinals gear took over for Sports Day, leopard print came out for Animal Print Day, the ’80s made a very colorful comeback, and Crazy Hat Day delivered exactly what you’d expect.

Residents, families, and team members all got involved throughout the week, making each theme day a little more fun than the last. 💜

One blanket finished, with more already underway. 🧶❤️

Our Memory Care neighborhood recently started Blankets of Love, working together a few times each month to create no-sew fleece blankets that will eventually be donated to a local NICU.

Their first blanket is officially complete, and work on the second has already begun. Our first little monkey blanket turned out SO cute! 🐒💕 There is something pretty special about knowing how many hands helped create it and how much love and laughter went into making it.

Over the coming months, they’ll continue building their collection with the goal of bringing a little extra comfort to babies and families who need it.

We packed a lot of fun into August! 🎨✍️🚐🍨

Memory Care residents spent the month creating personalized picture frames, going on scavenger hunts, enjoying social hours, journaling, and writing letters to family and friends.

Of course, we made time for a few adventures too! Scenic drives got us out and about, and our trip to Fitz's brought us face-to-face with some of the biggest floats we've ever seen. The reactions were priceless! 😂

Creativity brought everyone together. 🌿🧱

Residents and families enjoyed an evening putting together building block succulents and flowers during our Bloom & Build Family Night. The room was filled with conversation, laughter, and a little friendly teamwork as everyone created colorful keepsakes to take home.

A special thank you to Zoe from Bloom Healthcare for joining us and introducing families to the services available through our new partnership. Most of all, thank you to everyone who spent the evening making memories with us!

Sometimes the most impactful work we do in the senior living industry has absolutely nothing to do with standard daily operations.

This week our team at Las Palomas Senior Living experienced the true meaning of community when Assisted Living resident Ed received the surprise of a lifetime. His daughter Cathy traveled all the way from Chicago with a breathtaking plan. At seventy years old she was getting married for the very first time and her ultimate dream was to say her vows with her parents watching.

Their incredible staff immediately sprang into action to make it happen. Within a matter of hours, the team managed to secure a priest, a harpist, gorgeous floral arrangements, and a wedding cake.

The Director of Entertainment and Programming even stepped up to photograph the beautiful ceremony while the family captured video. Cathy was able to walk down the aisle with her mother's vintage brooch pinned to her bouquet, completely surrounded by love.

This spectacular afternoon was a beautiful reminder of our true purpose. We do not just manage communities, we actively facilitate life's most meaningful milestones. We are incredibly proud of our team for moving mountains to turn this impromptu dream into a stunning reality.
