š Migraine Triggers: Sometimes the Answer Is āWho Knows?ā š
One of the most frustrating parts of living with migraines is that everyone wants to know what caused it.
āWas it stress?ā
āDid you eat chocolate?ā
āDid you drink enough water?ā
Sometimes the answer is yes.
Sometimes the answer is no.
And sometimes the answer is, āI have absolutely no idea.ā
Over the last two years, Iāve learned some of my biggest triggers:
š§ļø Weather changes
š” Bright lights
šÆļø Strong smells
š» Too much screen time
š“ Lack of sleep
ā Stress
šø Hormone fluctuations
š„ļø Neck and shoulder tension from staring at three monitors all day
But hereās the thing most people donāt realizeā¦
I can avoid every trigger I know about and still wake up with a migraine.
Thatās what makes migraine disease so frustrating. It isnāt as simple as avoiding chocolate and drinking more water. If it were, trust me, weād all be cured by now.
Some days it feels like walking a tightrope. You do everything ārightā and still end up in a dark room with an ice pack on your head.
So if someone you love lives with migraines, remember this:
Theyāre already trying.
Theyāre tracking triggers.
Theyāre adjusting their routines.
Theyāre taking medications.
Theyāre making sacrifices you may never see.
A little patience and understanding go a long way. š
Now tell meā¦
Whatās the weirdest migraine trigger youāve ever heard ofāor the one that gets you every time?
