The Joint Commission has certified Summa Health System – Akron Campus as a Comprehensive Stroke Center. Summa Health was the first hospital in greater Akron to receive Comprehensive Stroke Center certification when we achieved it in 2022. This marks three consecutive review periods of Summa Health consistently earning this achievement. Comprehensive Stroke Centers represent the pinnacle of stroke care. The certification indicates that we provide the most advanced treatments available and have neurologists, neurosurgeons, neurointerventional radiologists, neurocritical care specialists and vascular surgeons working as one cohesive unit. Summa Health’s CSC designation also signifies our commitment to meeting stringent quality metrics for hemorrhagic stroke care, following best clinical practice guidelines and ensuring timely access to advanced treatments.

🚨 If you think you're having a heart attack, your first instinct might be to get in the car and head to the hospital yourself.

But that decision could put you and others at risk. Calling 911 gets trained emergency responders to you quickly and allows treatment to begin before you even arrive at the hospital.
