We made a quick impromptu trip to Waldameere for some end of summer fun. We realized we had bought the tickets through the school a while ago and the season to use them was almost over so why not lol. Everyone had a great time, we snapped a quick group photo before everyone ran off to enjoy their favorite rides. Although a lot of fun was had, we are starting to realize Destin’s days of amusement parks are getting shorter and shorter, and that with his new body the things that brought him so much enjoyment are in the past for now. Since He is unable to ride most of the bigger rides, we still drag him to kiddie land to get something out of it. But By next year he will probably be to big and they won’t let him ride anymore, he was right on the line this year. And even though we were in kiddie land, we still had to have them stop a ride because it bounced so much and was throwing him around that it was bound to be an accident. So because of us realizing even this kiddie ride can be unsafe tells us that until he is older and can maybe learn different ways to handle his body, his riding days are over. We then went to the waterpark portion and again, he is not allowed on any of the slides not even in kiddie land. So we headed over to the wave pool and once again he was restricted. He wanted to go deeper and we wanted him to as well so his feet were not dragging on the bottom but they have a line and if you have a floatation device on you can not go past it. So at the end of the day he either sat in the kiddie pool and splashed around or rode his wheelchair through the sprinklers. But going forward and the older he gets I don’t know if he will last the 6-8 hrs hanging out while the other kids are off having fun.
