Last week, Mosaic Medical Center - Albany welcomed Missouri State Rep. Jeff Farnan, who represents District 1, including Atchison, Gentry, Holt and Nodaway counties.

During his visit, Rep. Farnan met with medical center leaders and toured the facility to learn more about the vital role rural critical access hospitals play in caring for their communities. The discussion highlighted how being part of a larger health system helps expand access to care through innovative solutions such as telehealth services, specialized maternal care resources and support for patients in rural areas.

The visit also showcased efforts to address maternal healthcare challenges in northwest Missouri, including resources that help support expectant mothers closer to home and improve access to care in communities impacted by the growing number of obstetric care deserts.

“Access to healthcare should not depend on where someone lives,” says Katie Dias, DO, FAAFP, president of Mosaic Medical Center - Albany. “Through innovative technology, specialized equipment and strong partnerships across our health system, we are helping ensure rural patients have access to the care they need, when and where they need it.”�

We appreciate Rep. Farnan's interest in rural health care and the opportunity to share how Mosaic is working to improve access, strengthen local services and support the communities we serve.

I had to bring my husband to the emergency room one morning after work. They ended up stroke-alerting my husband. Whitney immediately stepped in and explained to him what all was going to happen and how fast it was all going to occur. Once she was done with her job, she took the time to check on me to be sure I was ok as well. Thanks to Whitney for her extra attention and care to the patient and family.
