Today, our Pediatric Trauma Education, Injury Prevention, and Outreach team had the opportunity to attend a local high school Career Fair and share the many pathways available within healthcare and trauma services.

Students learned about careers in pediatric trauma, injury prevention, community outreach, nursing, emergency medicine, and the important role healthcare professionals play in keeping children and families safe. We also highlighted our work in injury prevention, including child passenger safety, bike helmet education, Safe Kids initiatives, and community outreach programs throughout the Capital Region.

Thank you to Cohoes High School for inviting us to be part of this event and for encouraging students to explore future career opportunities. It was great meeting so many engaged and enthusiastic students, and we hope we inspired a few future healthcare professionals along the way!

Today, the Adult & Pediatric Trauma Programs proudly hosted our 1st Inaugural Trauma Survivors Day at Albany Medical Center. 🌷

The day began with a bake sale fundraiser supporting our Trauma Survivors Network (TSN) Program, helping us continue to provide support, resources, and encouragement to trauma patients and their families long after they leave the hospital.

We then gathered for a special ceremony honoring several of our returning trauma survivors and their families. Seeing our survivors walk back through our doors β€” stronger, smiling, and continuing their recovery journeys β€” was a powerful reminder of why this work matters so deeply.

To close the day, survivors, families, staff, and supporters joined together for our Trauma Survivors Walk around the hospital grounds. Along the route were lawn signs beautifully decorated by units and departments throughout the hospital, each filled with messages of hope, encouragement, and support.

Thank you to everyone who baked, donated, attended, created signs, walked with us, and helped make this day so meaningful. Trauma Survivors Day is not only about honoring our patients and families β€” it is also about recognizing the incredible healthcare teams who help guide them through some of the hardest moments of their lives.

THANK YOU to Alana, Samuel, Ann and Jasmine- our returning trauma survivors. You’re all superheroes.
Hearing your stories touched so many of us today.

We are already excited to begin planning for next year and continuing to grow this special event for our survivors, families, staff, and community. πŸ’™βœ¨

From both the Adult and Pediatric Trauma Programs,
THANK YOU!

Over the past week, our Adult Injury Prevention & Outreach team educated over 700 students, between Hudson City High School and Amsterdam High School. Focusing on the real-life impact of reckless, distracted, and impaired driving among teen drivers.

With prom and graduation season approaching, we emphasized how quickly a split-second decision can lead to serious or fatal consequences, not just for drivers, but for passengers, families, and entire communities.

Our goal is simple; we want to empower teens to make safe, responsible decisions every time they get behind the wheel. One good decision can make all the difference.

The Adult and Pediatric Trauma Programs are excited to host our first Trauma Survivors Day on May 20, 2026!

We encourage all Albany Med employees who are able to attend to please join us. This day means more than we can put into words. It is an opportunity to honor our trauma survivors, their families, and the incredible work each member of our healthcare team does to care for these patients.

We are so proud of the work you do every day and look forward to celebrating you at our Bake Sale and Trauma Survivors Day Walk on May 20th!
