**Day 1 of the 2026 ILADS Scientific Conference in the Washington, D.C. area!**
An incredible first day learning from experts in Lyme disease, tick-borne infections, and complex chronic illness!
Today's lectures covered neuroinflammation, cognitive decline and Alzheimer's disease, Bartonella and Babesia, biofilms, nervous system dysregulation, POTS, MCAS, genomics, and emerging treatment approaches.
**A personal highlight was meeting Dr. Richard Horowitz**, a pioneer in treating Lyme disease and complex chronic illness. He was incredibly kind and took time to discuss my own personal experience with Bartonella and share insights from his **MSIDS (Multiple Systemic Infectious Disease Syndrome) framework**, which examines the many overlapping factors contributing to chronic illness.
I also picked up his newest book, **_Ending Chronic Illness_**, which I highly recommend—especially to my patients navigating chronic, complex health conditions!
Grateful for the opportunity to continue learning, build meaningful relationships, and bring new knowledge and perspectives back to my patients in southwest Georgia.
**Looking forward to Day 2!**
