Exciting news! 🎉

I'm excited to share that Pathway to Healing Counseling Services has reached a new milestone!

I am now licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in Iowa, allowing me to provide telehealth therapy to Iowa residents in addition to the services I offer in Minnesota.

If you're in Iowa and have been looking for a therapist, I'd be happy to talk with you about whether we're a good fit and discuss available payment and insurance options.

Thank you to everyone who has supported my practice and trusted me to be part of your healing journey.

It’s interesting how often everyday situations turn into something more than we expect.

A simple concern can carry a lot underneath it; expectations, investment, care.

You can walk into a conversation with something straightforward in mind…
and find that it shifts quickly once emotions enter the space.

It can start to feel like you’re not being heard.
Or like others are responding to something different than what you meant.
Or like the dynamic between people becomes louder than the issue itself.

And then you leave, not just thinking about what was said, but about how it felt.

These moments are more common than we think.

They reflect how much communication isn’t just about words, but about timing, emotion, and the quiet need to feel understood.

There’s no perfect way to navigate them.

But even a small pause… a moment of curiosity instead of reaction… can sometimes shift what happens next.

Not Everyone Will Like You—And That’s Okay

One of the hardest things to accept is that you can be kind, thoughtful, genuine, and still not be liked by everyone.

And that doesn’t mean you’re doing something wrong.

For a lot of people, being disliked feels bigger than it actually is. It can feel like rejection, failure, or even danger. So they work overtime trying to be easier, quieter, more agreeable, more helpful, more palatable.

But constantly shaping yourself around other people’s comfort is exhausting.

Healing sometimes looks like realizing:
• You are not for everyone.
• Other people are allowed to misunderstand you.
• Someone can be disappointed in you and you can still be okay.
• Being disliked does not make you unworthy.

You do not need universal approval to be a good person.

Sometimes growth looks less like becoming more liked…
and more like becoming more yourself.
