The book explores two different ways of living life: the aesthetic life and the ethical life. The aesthetic life focuses on pleasure, experiences, beauty, and avoiding commitment, living for enjoyment and the moment. In contrast, the ethical life is about responsibility, commitment, moral values, and making meaningful long-term choices, such as marriage, duty, and personal integrity.

Through fictional voices and essays, the book shows that people cannot avoid choosing between these ways of life. The title “Either/Or” reflects the idea that life requires decisive choices, and refusing to choose is itself a choice that shapes who we become. Kierkegaard’s deeper message is that individuals must stop merely “performing” for society and instead consciously choose the kind of life and self they want to become.

Journaling can be revolutionary.

It’s what our bodies and nervous systems have been doing forever: internally regulating to our environments and finding flow.

And when people experience this process for themselves for the first time, there’s often surprise at how much richness in their writing they can access with ease.

My new book that addresses caregiving is coming out soon!

Written by a psychologist with both clinical expertise and lived caregiving experience, this book offers a compassionate, integrative guide to the realities of caregiving.
