Our spirits are lifted today as we put together our back-to-school supplies. You Matter is about helping our community. Every year, we honor my nana, Aldrina, by naming the event "Nana's Golden Heart". My nana was a leader. She helped others for good even when she had nothing. Today, I want to thank my mom, the Irwin family, our clients, and staff for their donations. You are valued. You make a difference in this world. We all can do a little each day. Give back if you can, help others, be kind, and love one another.

Welcome to the team, James!

**James Sims** (she/her) has worked and advocated in the mental health field for over 16 years, with a passion for supporting youth and young adults. She has experience working with individuals across all identities and backgrounds. James obtained her Master of Social Work from the University of Denver in 2006 and will receive her LMSW in New Mexico in January 2025. Raised in the Southwest and Hawai'i, she identifies as a feminist, q***r, and anti-racist.

Her therapeutic focus includes mindfulness-based interventions, solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), complemented by person-centered, strengths-based, and somatic approaches. James is committed to serving the community by helping people access inner healing and achieve positive mental health. She creates a supportive, collaborative environment that encourages growth and celebrates each person's unique resilience.

Outside of work, James enjoys spending time in the beautiful landscapes and waters of Northern New Mexico.
