🏋️ Mobility vs. Flexibility — What's the Difference?

They might sound like the same thing, but they're not!

🤸 Mobility is your ability to move a joint through its range of motion with control and strength.

🧘 Flexibility is your muscles' ability to lengthen, allowing you to stretch and move more freely.

Both play an important role in how your body moves and feels every day!

💡 The takeaway? Being flexible doesn't always mean you have good mobility. A healthy movement routine should focus on BOTH!

✨ Move better. Feel better. Live better.

🧠 Headaches? Your neck could be part of the picture!

Did you know that tension, stiffness, and restricted movement in your neck can sometimes contribute to headaches?

Not all headaches come from the same source, which is why understanding what's causing yours is so important.

At your chiropractic appointment, assessing your neck, posture, and movement may help identify factors contributing to your discomfort.

✨ Don't just ignore recurring headaches — get them assessed!

Chiropractic has been around for over 130 years. 🤯

Since the first chiropractic adjustment in 1895, the profession has continued to evolve — but the focus remains the same: helping people move, feel, and function at their best.

From 1895 → 2026, that’s a lot of history. 🙌

👐 WHY CHIROPRACTIC CARE ISN’T JUST ABOUT THE SPINE
When you think of chiropractic care, the spine is probably the first thing that comes to mind — but chiropractors can assess much more than just your back.
Your body works as a connected system, and areas such as the shoulders, hips and knees can all influence how you move and function day to day.
Depending on your symptoms and individual needs, a chiropractic assessment may look at:
🔹 Joint mobility and range of motion
🔹 Muscle strength and flexibility
🔹 Shoulders, hips, knees and other joints
🔹 How different areas work together during movement
🔹 Activities or movements that aggravate your symptoms
That’s why your chiropractor might examine an area that seems completely unrelated to where you're experiencing discomfort.
The aim is to understand how you move as a whole — not simply focus on one part of the body. 💚

💻 YOUR DESK ISN’T THE PROBLEM — STAYING IN ONE POSITION MIGHT BE
There’s no single “perfect” posture you need to hold all day.
Even a great sitting position can start to feel uncomfortable if you stay there for hours without moving. Our bodies are designed for variety and regular movement. 🙌
If you spend most of your day at a desk, try mixing things up:
🪑 Change your sitting position regularly
🚶 Get up and walk around when you can
🧍 Alternate between sitting and standing
🙆‍♀️ Take quick stretch or movement breaks
💻 Adjust your workspace so you can work comfortably
You don’t need to sit perfectly upright every second of the day — and slouching occasionally isn't automatically a problem either.
Instead of constantly asking “Am I sitting correctly?”, try asking:
“How long have I been in this position?” 👀
✨ Your best posture is often your next posture.

🚶‍♀️ MOVEMENT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE A WORKOUT
When we hear “stay active,” it’s easy to think that means gym sessions, long runs or intense workouts.
But movement can be much simpler than that. 💚
🚶 Go for a walk
🧘 Stretch for a few minutes
⚽ Play outside with the kids
🌿 Spend some time in the garden
🪑 Get up regularly if you work at a desk
🎵 Put some music on and move around the house
Your joints and muscles benefit from regular, varied movement throughout the day — and those little moments can all add up.
You don’t always need workout clothes, equipment or an hour to spare. Sometimes, the best movement is simply the movement you actually enjoy and can keep doing.
✨ Move in a way that feels good. It all counts.

🤫 FUN FACT FRIDAY: NOT EVERY ADJUSTMENT NEEDS TO “POP”!
Many people associate chiropractic adjustments with that familiar pop or crack — but the sound isn’t what makes an adjustment successful.
The popping sound is known as cavitation and is associated with a rapid pressure change within the joint. It’s not your bones cracking or rubbing together. 🦴
Depending on the technique being used, an adjustment may produce a sound… or it may be completely quiet.
Chiropractors can use a variety of approaches, from traditional manual adjustments to gentler mobilisation and instrument-assisted techniques. What’s appropriate depends on the individual, their needs and the findings from their assessment.
So, no pop? That doesn’t automatically mean nothing happened. The sound itself isn’t the goal — the focus is on the joint, movement and the person being treated. 🙌

👐 THE IMPORTANCE OF REGULAR ADJUSTMENTS

Chiropractic care doesn’t always have to start and stop when something hurts.

For some people, regular chiropractic care forms part of a broader plan to help maintain comfortable movement, joint function and mobility over time.

Depending on your individual needs, ongoing care may focus on:

🔹 Maintaining joint mobility and range of motion
🔹 Addressing stiffness or restrictions as they arise
🔹 Supporting movement alongside exercise and strengthening
🔹 Monitoring how your body responds to work, training and everyday demands
🔹 Helping you stay active and doing the things you enjoy

But “regular” doesn’t mean the same schedule for everyone. How often someone may benefit from chiropractic care should be based on their symptoms, goals, assessment and response to treatment — rather than a one-size-fits-all routine.

Think of it as one part of looking after your body, alongside movement, strength, sleep and healthy everyday habits. 💚

👐 WHY CHIROPRACTIC CARE ISN’T ONE-SIZE-FITS-ALL
No two people walk into a chiropractic clinic with exactly the same body, lifestyle, symptoms or goals — so their care shouldn’t automatically look the same either.
Before recommending care, a chiropractor may consider things such as:
🔹 Your symptoms and health history
🔹 How your joints and muscles are moving
🔹 Your strength, mobility and range of motion
🔹 Your work, hobbies and activity levels
🔹 Previous injuries or existing conditions
🔹 What you actually want to achieve
For one person, the focus might be improving mobility. For another, it could be managing discomfort, returning to an activity or supporting function alongside rehabilitation and exercise.
Even the techniques used can be adapted depending on the individual.
Good chiropractic care should start with an assessment and a plan based on the person in front of you — not a standard routine given to everyone. 💚
