It's never too late for Second chances!! 3rd,4th and 10th+ chances too!👍

7 years ago I sat in front of this man while a prosecutor made his case that I would be nothing more than a drug dealer and a drug user.

At this time I had already had a spiritual experience and worked the 12 steps with my sponsor. I had prayed and prayed and had peace with whatever sentence was handed to me.

I wrote a letter, my family wrote letters, and my sponsor wrote a letter.

This judge looked at me and told me I was worth more.

4 years he said. 4 years in the Marysville women’s prison in Ohio.

I was okay. I was going to be the best person I could be under the circumstances, whatever that looked like.

2 years passed, and there I sat in front of this man again, asking him for mercy. Explaining the work I had put in to better myself, explaining that I had found God.

He sent me home, and told me not to mess this up.

Another 2 years passed, and I filed for an early release from parole. This judge was supposed to be retired, but there he sat again. Tears running down his face as he told me how proud he was of me, and that I was now a completely free woman.

At 7 years sober I see him from time to time. Tears fill our eyes and I update him on my life today. My husband and I opened up a treatment facility, we help people every day. I try to tell the world that recovery is possible and people can change. That our mistakes don’t define us and that all God needs is a willing vessel.

People need people to believe in them. People need someone to tell them they’re worth more.

I was worth more.

You are worth more.

Thank you, Judge Burnworth. 🤍
